Chapter 6~ Nightmare

"My Djoodjoo?" Tokota questioned looking at Nani with tears prickling his eyes as he clutched the blanket harder. Nani nodded her head, tears in her eyes as well, with her hands in a fist on her lap.

Tokota looked down for a moment, trying to soak in the information. Looking at Nani, he stretched his arms out and went to hug Nani. Nani accepted the hug, hugging Tokota back.

"I've always wanted a Djoodjoo, and I thought I never had one because I am a nation, and I always see the other kids..." Tokota rambled the poor woman's ear off, but Nani didn't care. Nani was glad she found the boy and knows she has to find the other boy, who was born somewhere down south. But for now, she was going to spend the time she has with her son.

"So okosisimâw (my son), I don't have much time with you, but I want to spend it with you before I have to go, ok?" she said to the boy in her arms, moving a strand of hair out of his face.

"Why do you have to leave so soon, Djoodjoo." he said looking up, eyes still glossy from keeping back tears.

Nani looked at Tokota with a pained face before making it more gentle. "I am in search for your wiikaane(brother), Tokota. But he is out of your country, and you need to stay here." she said gently to the sniffling boy.

"Why can't I come with you, Nani?!" the boy cried out, pushing away from the woman's arms. "Why can't I come to find my wiikaane with you?!" he cried again, holding the blankets tightly and shaking his head.

"My little Makwa(bear), you will become sick if going to another country the way you are now. You are too young right now." Nani responded in a comforting way, bringing her arm to Tokota's head.

After a little while, Tokota's sniffles calmed down, he had fallen asleep.

Nani looked at Tokota's peaceful face, one last tear falling down her cheek. "Goodnight my little Makwa" she whispered falling asleep beside him.

Everything was white once more, snow danced around with the wind.

He wondered if it was all a dream. He brought his knees closer to his chest, as the cold attacked his small form.

He shut his eyes in frustration, struggling to keep the warmth from leaving his body.

He heard Nani's voice cry in pain and Tokota's head shot up, his eyes widening at the sight.

He saw Nani on the snowy ground, blood painting the snow red. Her eyes were dead, with no emotion in her eyes. An icicle through her chest, and the man who committed this awful crime standing in front of the woman with a crazed smile on his face.

The man turned to Tokota and Tokota realized who the man was, It was General Winter.

Tokota backed away slowly as General Winter walked closer.

Then, Nikan jumped in between them, giving General Winter a harsh glare before trying to attack him.

With the swipe of his icicle, General Winter sends the bear flying to the side, creating a small icicle and sending it flying towards the bear, hitting Nikan straight in the chest.

A loud yelp came for Nikan before it became very quiet, no movement or noise was made from the bear.

"NIKAN!!!! NANI!!!" he yelled in anguish, tears running down his cheeks like a waterfall.

Tokota took more steps back in fear, tripping on a familiar log and falling back into a lake, breaking the thin ice and falling into the water.

Tokota was sinking into the water, closing his eyes and accepting his fate, until he heard Nani's voice calling him.

Hope you enjoyed though...

edit: Wiradjuri language is actually Australian and I tried to change it all... but I have a less cringe story about canada that you might like and I actually try on it!!! its called Canada Revealed, so check it out!
