I ran desperately down the path.. beginning to find more smears of blood left and right on the cobblestone as I ran into the quiet and empty looking town..
"AGNESE!?" I screamed. "AGNESE SAY SOMETHING!!!"
"NO!! MIRA STAY BACK!!" screamed another voice. "DON'T COME IN!!"
I whirled around to see that there was a partially open door to what appeared to be an old shack.. According to Abby, the townspeople were going to tear it down later to make extra firewood, and replace it with a new general store... why there!?
A million possibilities flew through my head. Every RPG had bandits right? Every RPG had monsters that were total idiots and liked to capture other unsuspecting characters... but I needed a weapon...
I picked up a plank of wood from the side of the shack. This would have to do..
I kicked the door open. "AGNESE!!"
Agnese was tied to a piece of rope around her torso... and she was hanging from a piece of wood on the ceiling of the run down shack.
"GET OUT OF HERE!!" screamed Agnese, tears in her eyes. "MIRA IT'S A TRAP! RUN!! TELL ABBY!!!"
I looked down at the end of the shack.. and I felt my heart drop somewhere into my stomach region.
Solomon was standing there, as if he had been waiting for me, his talking gun drawn..
"The anomaly.. she is here." said the gun quietly.
"Thank you Gespa.. later I'll give you a tune up as a reward.." said Solomon, strolling forward, adjusting his blindfold with a finger as he strolled over to meet me.
"YOU!" I growled. "What are you doing with Agnese!?"
"Hmm.. giving her due punishment for hiding you.. you were the one who appeared in the phenomenon a week ago.. and they protected you.. even after we highlighted the danger that you could pose.." said Solomon. "After we eliminate you... we shall kill them.. and everyone in this village to ensure the same disaster from 20 years ago never happens again... such is life.."
I felt my insides contort with anger. That's how they wanted to play it huh?
"Don't give me that crap!!" I growled. "All they did was open up their home to me!! All they did was show me kindness!!"
"Their first mistake." said Solomon. "I pity you girl.. I am sure you do not mean to bring disaster.. but this is reality, sometimes sacrifices of the few must be made for the many to prosper.."
"DON'T MAKE EXCUSES!!" I screamed, as I began running at Solomon hurling my plank like a club in both hands.
Solomon slashed out a hand, and in a swift movement, his fist shattered the plank.. blasting it to pieces with one punch..
"POW!!" the sound of gunshot rang out.. and I felt sharp terrible burning pain enter my leg..
I screamed as I fell down.. staring at the blood pooling on the pants leg of my pajamas.. staining it red..
I could barely breathe for all the pain.. but, as I lay there, and saw Agnese.. I saw it.. she was crying.
"LEAVE HER ALONE!!" Agnese sobbed "TAKE ME INSTEAD!!"
No.. no I couldn't chicken out here.. she was depending on me.. Abby was depending on me to bring her back safe!
I hobbled up on one leg.. gasping..
"Impressive." said Solomon. "You show more will then the others I eliminated from the strange light.. Your race is a demon.. and I just used a Anti-Blood Bullet.. built specifically to cause those with demon's blood to feel immense pain.. you seem like a slacker.. but you have an iron clad will despite that.. quite unusual.."
