I awoke to find myself in the orphanage.
There was a makeshift nurse's office we had in the back of the church to help out people who came to us ill, as the doctors had a very hard time in such an out of the way town. And it seemed I somehow ended up there.. lying in a fluffy feather bed with a large quit blanket over me..
I felt both my legs seemed to frozen in a pair of casts, and on the counter next to me was a jar with blood covered bullets inside, which they must have pulled out of my legs.
Sitting on a chair next to me was Abby, who was fervently reading a book titled 'My Little Trouble Maker: The Orphanage's Guide to Demon Health Care.'.
"That any better than Dante's Inferno?" I muttered
Abby looked up from her book and smiled. "Oh.. it's just a little something I got.. you're the first demon to come here you know.. "
"Anything interesting about my race in there?" I asked.
"You heal faster than most humanoid races." said Abby. "I think you should be fine after a few days in the wheelchair.. "
Abby ruffled my hair. "I was so worried.. and so was she as a matter of fact.. your new friend.."
"N.. new friend?" I muttered.
"over here master!! You can't have forgotten about your spectacular cute Melia now right?!"
I looked over to see the ginormous demonic axe leaning against my bedpost.
So it wasn't a dream.. it all really happened.. a giant talking axe somehow exploded out of my head... so freaking weird.
"I'm.. going to need some explanation.." I murmured, unable to speak much louder due to the fact my entire body felt so tired, it was hard to even move my fingers.
"That mark on your forehead... " said Abby. "Not many are born with it... and it can appear in various places.. your back.. your forehead.. any place really.. those born with the mark eventually awaken the monstrous weapons known as Kaiju.. beyond that I don't know much.."
"Heh! I know NOTHING!" said Melia cheerily. "Sister Abby actually had to explain to me what the heck a Kaiju is! All I know is.. one day I was.. there... and then I heard you calling for help.. so I came!"
"Another question.. why does a badass looking super cool giant demon axe... sound like a cutsie little sister type person..?" I muttered.
"Because I'm not just badass! I'm ADORABLE!" said Melia.
"That's not a reason.." I muttered.
"It can be!!"
"no it can't."
"Don't be a Party Pooper Master!!"
I went quiet. Abby looked at me with great concern. "You're not as exuberant as you usually are.. even with such injuries.. I wouldn't expect such a sad look on your face.. what's wrong?"
I felt a huge weight exploding around in my chest. pressing down... the memory of the Fairy's face as she enjoyed my suffering was stabbing into my brain. But I couldn't cry.. not here.. not in front of Abby.. that would just be embarrassing.. The hero doesn't cry in front of anybody.. that's just weird.. like how Witcher 3 added brothels...like.. WHY do that? who plays a game just to watch a monster slayer-.. er.. sorry, bad tangent..
But as I looked at Abby, she had one of those Markiplier looks... you know.. that look that Markiplier has in his eyes sometimes that comes at random moments, a look that says "Tell me your woes oh traveler and I shall hug you."
