There's this kid who hated change, he despised starting over even more. In the beginning of middle school, he was sort of left alone. His friends all made new friends. He was reluctant to speak to to anyone, mainly because he couldn't relate to anyone. He was different. He'd be what you would call that friend who spoiled everyone's fun because he took things too seriously. Silly jokes didn't make sense to him and he didn't like them at first. So he remained quiet.
His best friend stuck by his side mainly, and she introduced people to him one by one. Her friends also became his friends. Soon, he gained a supportive group of friends who made him laugh and feel loved.
In his last year of middle school, they were there when he needed them the most. He appreciated and believed that he'd have a blast with them in highschool. Everything was going so well that year.
Then, he realized, his path was going to take a different route. He wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, so he took an exam.
Soon, he received his results.
He passed the exam! His name was one of the top seventy highest scoring students! Could this be real??
He shared the news with his significant other and friends. They were proud of him.
The day after, he spoke with his friends about being excited to be in the program.
That's where it barely hit him. Amongst all the excitement, he forgot about the sacrifices he will need to make... The people he'll have to let go.
The program was in a different highschool everyone else wasn't attending. That meant he'd have to make brand new friends... Get adjusted to the major change... Feeling like he didn't belong all over again.
He had to leave behind the majority of the people he cared about.
Soon, he graduated to highschool. In the summer, he began practicing with his new band. The kids in his section took a liking to him and made him feel welcome. They'd joke around with him and encourage him to continue band everytime expressed a loss of interest in the activity.
He longed to see his friends from the other highschool. He hoped to see them again soon.
And he did. At a Bands Of America contest, all the performing groups were in ranks. The announcer was calling the results. He looked around and found them nearby. All he cared about was being able to be with them, even if it was for a little bit.
"Everyone can now break rank. Come on! Go congratulate each other! You earned it!" The announcer called.
A grinned formed upon his face. Was this real? Was this really happening??
He walked towards the band in orange uniforms, and people began calling out his name.
It was them! It was really them!
Tears began to build up as they tackled him.
"We missed you!" They said.
Some cried upon seeing him again and they embraced.
For a moment, it felt like nothing changed. Like everything stayed the same.
Sadly, it didn't last very long. Everyone had to go home. The contest was over.
Two months later, he I am wishing I could go to their highschool because honestly I just feel so alone at times. I just don't fit in. I don't have many things in common the other people in my school (aside from wanting to end it at times [I WON'T ACTUALLY DO IT] and hating some of the teachers.) Even with the few new friends I've made, it's just not the same.
Man, I miss you guys...
