A little while ago, a young little boy and little girl met this stranger who was around with their older brother. They were always intrigued about who this person was, so one day, they asked their brother who it was.
The elder sibling explained to them what their relation was and they gained more interest in that person.
Every now and then, they'd ask about certain things like, "What are their interests?" "What are they like?" "What makes you two so happy?"
Without leaving refusing to explain, the brother gushed about them and the things they admired about them.
"They always put everyone else's needs before theirs. Their kindness had no limits, but they were also stern and strong when necessary."
As more details were revealed, the little ones smiled wider and wider finding out about a person that gave their sibling so much glee.
One day, the kids got to meet them. They greeted them both with so much happiness and warmth that the two genuinely felt that they cared about them both.
Time passed by and the smallest one was the one who couldn't wait to see them again. Every time they interacted, the older brother felt so content thinking maybe they had chosen the right person.
One day, they asked the older sibling, "What would your brother and sister want for Christmas?"
For a moment, they were stunned. No one has made that kind offer before. At first he said, "That's kind of you, but you don't have to."
"But I want to."
Christmas rolled around, and the siblings opened their gifts that were gifted by them.
Their expressions were full of joy. It was like watching a Christmas movie scene where the kids are so happy because Santa got them exactly what they wanted.
A month passes, and things change.
The older siblings doesn't talk about them anymore. They were confused about the sudden change, so they'd ask about them and he'd just avoid giving them an answer.
They kept asking the same question but no answer was given.
Then the little girl spoke, "Why are you mad every time we ask?"
The older sibling answered, "I'm not... I'm not mad. I couldn't be."
The middle child questioned, "Did they do something wrong?"
"No. They never did anything wrong. They don't deserve any hate."
That was most he explained to the two because the older sibling didn't know how to explain the real situation without risking their safety or his safety.
To this day, the still ask about him, but there's not much I can say with my current position.
