The Mysterious Quest

Chapter 3: The Explosion

                         As I reach my cabin I hear an explosion "What was that!?" I blurted out before realizing I wasn't talking to anyone, immediately after that I hear screams, not the kind from happiness, but from fear instead, my first instinct was to run away but I told myself firmly no and grabbed my sword, shield, and chest piece that was resting against the side of my cabin, I quickly strap it on and run towards the commotion. As I finally come around the last corner of the Hades cabin I see the reason for the sound, there was a blasted hole in the ground, and monsters were pouring out from the hole and there was Eliza, Kyan, Derek and many other campers fighting them and to my horror, there were many fallen campers most injured by the looks of it but some of them, even though I don't want to admit it, looked like they were dead. I ran towards my best friends and had to yell because of the battle that was going on "How did this hole appear?!" "I'm not sure just focus on killing these monsters!" Derek yelled back, so I did as I was told I charged towards the closest monster, which was a dracaena as it turned to look at me it hissed horribly, but the hiss was short-lived as it was cut off from a decapitated head. I spun around seeing Eliza and Derek taking turns slashing at the thighs of a laistrygonian giant, then my eyes sought Kyan and when I saw him a cold feeling weighed down my stomach, as if a cold, metal bell was resting in my stomach, for Kyan was laying on the ground, his skin pale, and his chest had three half a metre long gashes across his chest and a massive hellhound stood over him, blood dripping from its chin. "KYAN!!!" I scream in a mix of rage, fury and worry. The hellhound growled in a questioning tone and looked at me, but I was too late it was dead, I stood over the body of the hellhound breathing hard before remembering that Kyan was injured. I dropped my sword and bent down to further examine him, and it wasn't good. "We need someone over here now!" I bellowed to the main group of campers as one of them scurried over, "I need some help here!" the medic called, and was quickly answered by one more medic coming and the other one in his footsteps. "Get a stretcher!" One of them said as soon as the saw the almost lifeless body of Kyan. Just then I realized that I forgot all about the battle going on, but there was no need because as I turned I also heard about 20 'twangs' and saw a volley of arrows landing in the group of monsters, the majority of them had arrows protruding from their chests or heads and the ones that didn't get shot ran back into the hole. A great cheering erupted from the group of campers, everybody was cheering except for me because my best friend was horribly injured, possibly even dead.
