Year 1909

It's a grey and chilly November day. A time of a year where the leaves had fallen down on the ground. A time where birds no longer chirp their harmonious melody, a time where the gloomy roads were covered with muds, and the depressed dark color of the sky and air, swept over the whole town. A time of the year where the citizens stayed indoor in their houses, preparing for the upcoming cold season. Only the sound of a chilly breeze whistled through the town Valentine. Except the late evenings, where the noises of laughter, and loudly drunk men yelling at eachother, coming from the Saloon opposite your residence. If the situation became worse than it already was, a scenario of rumble, fights and gunshots arised the surroundings. You knew you weren't safe here, as well goes for the enviroment you were located in. But what other options are there? how much you distorted the situation, and circumstances you had gone through since the age of 15, you couldn't find any reasonable conclusions. You had no place to go, this is your current home, whether you like it or not.

" Come on you filthy pig! Show me what you're capable of, man to man! "

You rushed to your window, peeking carefully through the pulled down shades.

" You O'Driscolls thinks that you're the toughest men who ever existed in our weird country, no one can beat me, do you hear me? no one! "

The two men were standing few feets away from eachother, ready to open a gun duel. It was only a matter of time to consider a winner and a loser. Few seconds later, the sound of gunfire striked loudly in the air, and the yelling man fell unconsciously on the ground, dead. You shook your head in disappointment, and moved away from the window. " Lunatics "  you said thoughtfully, while sitting on the chair, picking up a red comb out of the drawer, and started to comb your hair, soothingly. Meanwhile, your eyes landed on your own reflection in the mirror. "Who are you Y/N? what are you doing with your life? this is a mess, you are a mess! "

* Knocking sounds *

You put the comb back in the drawer, and moved behind your door.

" Who is it, if I may ask? "

" It's me, Mary-Beth, can I come in? "  you opened the door slightly.

" Come in, hurry! "

She stepped in quickly as you demanded.

" What brings you here this late Mary? "  you asked curiously, marking her tense position.

" Please Y/N, let me stay here for a while, I beg you. "  Her voice was shaky, almost thrilled.

" What's going on? why are you so shaken? "

" The drunk lunatic to man has been chasing me since afternoon, * she paused * and want me to accompany him the night in this motel ... please Y/N, if he appears here, and asks where I'm at, do tell him that you don't have any idea what he's gibbering about, will you? "  you were about to give her an answer in return, when a repeating, banging sound hit your door non-stop.

" Mary-Beth! Are you in there? * hiccups * come out, I neee ... d to talk ya! * hiccups * "

You glanced at her nervously, flickering hand gestures, wanting you to deal with this troublesome situation.

" Fine, I'll shoo him away. "  You stated firmly, straighten out your moss green, velvet Victorian dress, before opening the door an inch. A normal lenght, middle aged man, with a combination of red-orange hair, with side whiskers beard and moustache, was standing outside, smelling obnoxious.

" What do you want, sir? "  you asked, looking at the man who barely couldn't stand on his two legs, swaying from side to side.

" Mary-Beth ... * hiccups * "  You creased your nose when the scent of alcohol hit your nostrils.

" Wrong room I'm afraid mister. "  You replied and were about to close the door, when he kicked it harsly, making you almost fall backwards, but luckily landed on Mary-Beth. She screamed as he was approaching you two. You guarded yourself in front of her.

" I demand you to leave this room, now! "  You shouted, but he pushed you to the side, gripping Mary's wrist real hard, dragging her out the room.

" Help me! Please, Y/N! "  You heard her calling, while they were heading out through the main door. Panicking, you were looking through the drawers and shelves for a sharp tool, and managed to find a sharp pocketknife. Quickly, you rushed after them outdoor, yelling behind them.

" Release her, you Moron! "  As you were approaching them both, with the knife steady in your hand, ready to stab him, when a sudden gunshot, loudly hit the dark and misty air. For a few seconds, the town became death silence. Only the squeaking sound of lanterns, hanging on the side of the wooden roofs could be heard due to the cool breeze. A figure made itself presence from far distance, looking like a man in your sight. He walked in slowmotion, with rustling sounds coming from his spurs whenever he took another step forward. You adjusted yourself, while exchanging your gaze between the man and those two. The closer he came, the clearer the shapes and forms were becoming more visible. He was tall and stiff. Wearing a hat, which covered his face partly. You backed off a little, not knowing what to do in that moment. He stopped walking, and tipped his hat with his revolver, revealing his face.

" Let her go. "  The unknown man said. Lighting the match with the heels of his boots, moving it carelessly onto the cigarette he was keeping steady between his lips, to lit it.

The redheaded man let out a huge evilish laugh, still holding Mary-Beth's hand.

" Did y áll hear this fool?  *hiccups * he ...  he told me to let Ma ... Mary-Beth go! "

Some of the men agreed by starting to laugh with him. Your gaze wandered around the surroundings, then back at the mysterious man. He blew out a huge white foggy smoke, with the cigarette placed in the corner of his lips.

" You begged for it. "  He said, aiming the revolver at him. And without hesitation, he pulled the trigger. You closed your eyes to the sound of the gunshot, but opened again to the target, whimpering in pain.

" You Bastard! "  He roar, kneeling on the ground, grasping his hand with the other. The blood was streaming, down his arm and dripping on the ground.. "  You're gonna regret this! "  He uttered in agony, to the man who just shot a finger away from his hand. Mary-Beth had the chance to flee, running towards you. Some men helped him off the ground carrying him, by holding his arm on each side, heading for medical help.

The unknown man put his revolver back in the holster around his hips. And continued pacing towards the Saloon. The population who were standing on the porch, watching the whole scenario astonishingly, moved away to evacuate his path.

" Come on Y/N, let's go back inside! "  Mary-Beth begged you, pulling your shoulder. You nodded in your shocking state, and followed her back to the Motel.
