Mary-Beth padded further where she resided earlier this morning namely the kitchen. Before you were making up your mind to follow along, you had to take a look at the bulletin board in case if you had missed something important by browsing through today's guest list. It was empty. " Thank God ", you whispered low so that the owner wouldn't hear. He was sorting and organizing the books on the shelf behind the counter. How can you be so haughty? you've never understood him or people alike. The first day that you arrived in this rancid building you were warmly welcomed by the same man, but somewhat better. He used to put a smile on his face back in those days. Today he's a grumpy old man who gets worse with the year. He's also a very secretive man. Never mention his wife or his private life. Why should he? I mean, who are we to him? no one. Our status doesn't intrigue him at all. Apparently, he assures us as cheap and trashy women, who are having the lowest title in society.

" What are you staring at? "  he asked kinda hideous. " Don't you have other things to do than stay there and daydreaming? go on and keep moving, will you?! "

" Be kind and leave, please is the formal way to say it, " you added sharply to his sentence and walked away from there.

" Humph, how rude! "  You heard him shout behind your back.

Mary was busy washing the dishes when you entered the kitchen. A few loose of hair strands adhered on her sweaty forehead and temples. Her cheeks were red like red berries when she labored and strained with scrubbing the silverware and plates. Afterward, she dried them with a kitchen cloth and later the sweat drops away on her forehead with the same white-red squared apron that was looped around her waistline.

" How are you feeling Mary? "  you asked observing her when noticed the pale color on her face. She hangs the apron on the hook and fixes her messy hair.

" So-so, this time it was a tough damn beggar. "

" Then I suppose I did a good job having your back with the assistance yesterday somehow... " you cut yourself when you realized how inflated you sounded in the way you told her, and shyly you hastily came up with an excuse to complete your unfinished sentence.

" ... because it would be too much strain and pressure for you and the state you were in. Despite that, it got unusually foggy which was almost causing me to faint. " Mary lifted one brow up in the air, while the corner of her mouth curved into a playful grin.

" Are you sure that it only was bath assistance and nothing else? "

A warm temperature raised upon your entire face of embarrassment and you hit Mary lightly on her shoulder.

" Excuse your tongue Mary-Beth! " Mary couldn't resist your current facial expression and laughed loudly as you both headed out from the kitchen.

The daylight was slowly beginning to drift away as the darkness of the night was getting to arise in Valentine. The workers in town were closing for today to eventually get home or visit the Saloon. You prevented the chilly breeze to pass through the side cracks of your window by covering it with a thick curtain. Then you reached for the book out of the old vintage bedside table. Stretching your legs by crossing one leg over the other, leaning your head on the bedhead and making it all comfortable for yourself before you continued reading the chapter where you last ended.

" Chapter 4. The kiss in the sunset "

" There she was. The woman you adored so much, the one you've admired in your dreams and reality. You wanted to express your feelings for her, badly. You wanted to tell her how much she meant to you, and how much you would like to spend your entire life with her. But ... "
