You neatly folded some shirts and placed them into the suitcase as it laid open on your bed. A weight of sadness came upon you with each item you put into the bag. You were about to start putting in the little things into it when you felt an arm wrap around your waist.
"I don't want to talk to you," you pouted as your husband hugged you.
Jungkook chuckled. "I know, I know. I don't want to go without you, either." He pulled away and planted a kiss on your cheek before he sat down on the bed. "I can pack myself."
"No, I got it," you reassured, placing some socks inside. "Knowing you, you would put one white t-shirt, one pair of jeans, and a few changes of underwear."
"That's all I need to get by," he winked.
You gave up on packing for a moment and went to sit in your husband's lap. "You promise you're going to call every night?"
Jungkook nodded. "I swear, honey."
Jungkook was flying to America for two weeks with Taehyung for some YouTube business. You would have loved to go and accompany your husband, but you unfortunately had work to do at home that could not be missed. You were upset about the whole ordeal, but you tried to put on a smile whenever Jungkook brought it up. You were just salty about how time didn't seem to be in your favor this time.
Fast forward to the day Jungkook was leaving. His plane left early in the morning, so he was hoping to slip out without waking you. However, you woke as soon as he turned on the sink to brush his teeth.
You wrapped the blanket around yourself and walked over to the bathroom. "Are you leaving now?" you whispered, your voice quiet as you were still sleepy.
Jungkook perked up. He looked to the doorway and when he saw you, his heart softened. "What are you doing awake?"
"I don't want you to leave without my hugs," you answered.
Jungkook spit out the toothpaste that was in his mouth before he told you to wait for him. He continued to get ready for his flight and when he was ready, he grabbed the suitcase you had lovingly packed for him. "I'm ready."
You walked to the door with him, the blanket dragging on the ground around you. "I promise that I'll call every night and send you pictures of all the cool things I see," he told you.
You tried not to cry and be a baby but Jungkook saw the effort you were putting into holding your tears back. "Hey, I'll be back before you know it." He hugged you and gave you several kisses until Taehyung honked the horn outside. "I have to go now, okay? I love you, (Y/N)."
You wiped your tears. "I love you, too, Jungkook."
He gave you one last kiss before he opened the front door and departed into the night. You waved him off as the car drove away and shut the door once the headlights were out of view.
____
While your husband was gone, you stayed up late. For starters, you really didn't have anyone to tell you that it was late and you needed to get in bed, but you didn't have Jungkook to snuggle you which caused you to not sleep as well.
The time zones worked out a bit, since Jungkook would call you before he went to bed which would be right when you were waking up. He'd usually FaceTime while he was lying in bed and proceed to tell you how much he missed you and wanted you to be at his side.
"It's lonely without you here," you told him, wiping the sleep out of your eyes.
"It's lonely without you here," he repeated, feeling the same emotions you were feeling.
"I keep counting how many days are left until you fly back, but it just seems to get longer and longer," you admitted.
You heard him sigh. "Stop making me feel bad. I'll be home before you know it anyway."
"Or are you going to end up staying longer?" you muttered, but your husband heard you.
"I'm coming home the day I'm supposed to," he reassured, though you weren't aware of the lie that was neatly tucked into his words.
____
You laid in bed. It was around 2AM and you were just starting to feel tired. You were tempted to get your laptop out again and watch some of Jungkook's videos to hear his voice before you drifted off to sleep. He hadn't called you to tell you about his day or texted you good night after he woke up. You tried to call him and check up on him, but he wouldn't answer and you were starting to get worried.
What if something bad happened? Your internal voice echoed. You need to stay up in case Taehyung calls you and must tell you some tragic news. You gulped and grabbed your phone and tried calling once more, but no one answered.
"Maybe if I call Tae," you murmured, going to his contact and calling his phone. It seemed like whatever peril your husband was in, Taehyung was in as well, since he was also unreachable.
"Please, please, please be okay," you prayed, burrowing yourself in your warm covers. The hoodie you had stolen from Jungkook's part of the closet wasn't doing much to comfort you anymore as you thought about all the things that could have gone wrong.
As you laid under the covers, hoping and praying, you somehow drifted off to sleep. Your breaths became slower as you feel asleep, leaving your worries behind for a little while.
____
You yawned, waking up to the bright sunshine spilling into your room from the window. You stretched before rolling over and hugging the body next to you. "Good morning, Jungkookie," you giggled, giving him a kiss on the forehead.
"Good morning," he murmured, sleepy from his quick flight back from New York. His suitcase had been abandoned downstairs by the front door in his rush to get in bed beside you to surprise you.
You just smiled before trying to go back to sleep, but you perked up. "You're home?" you stated in your disbelief. You hugged him tightly before slapping his shoulder.
"Owe," he chuckled, peeking his eyes open to glare at you. "I surprise you by coming home early and you hit me?"
"You worried me!" you scolded. "How dare you not answer my calls!"
Jungkook tugged on the bottom of his hoodie that you were wearing. "Honey, go back to sleep. It's too early to get yelled at. Besides, how am I supposed to call you on the flight?"
"I don't know," you huffed, ignoring the tugging at your clothes. "Why couldn't you have told me? Or least make it seem like you weren't going to have cell service?"
"Because that would be a lie and I don't lie to my wife," he answered. "Well, I guess it actually wouldn't have, but still."
"You butt," you hissed, giving him one last slap on the shoulder.
"Hey, I was going to treat you tonight but I guess not if you're going to call me names," he joked.
You laid back down and snuggled close to him. "Fine, fine. But you better make it worth it."
Jungkook grinned. "Anything for you."
And much, much more.
