Chapter 9

Hi guys, thanks for sticking up with Tabby, Matt, Emm and Melly :D anyway this is the unedited version. I just simply proofread to reduce the mistakes, cause I think it's not appropriate to let you wait for a while anymore. :D

TABITHA’S POV              

First thing I did was checking his pulse. Emm was barely breathing! I felt a little bit relief that he was still with us.

“We should call the police.” Melly cried.

“No. We don’t have enough time. We should bring him to the hospital. I’ll take my car.” Matt said. Before I could ‘yes’ him, he had left to take his car. Those few minutes were like a century for me. Melly couldn’t stop crying, neither could I, but I could control my tears. That was what I learnt since I was kid; don’t cry in front of people.  All I was keep shaking his body, I knew it was useless, but there was a selfish hope inside me that by that he could regain his consciousness back. It didn’t work. Matt finally came, he took Emm in his arms and put him in the back seat. Blood stained on his tux. Melly sat in the back with Emm, while I was in the front seat. Matt rushed to the hospital.

Matt stopped his car right in front the hospital, we didn’t have time to park it. “Help!” He cried and quickly opened the back seat’s door. Emm was lying in Melly’s lap, lifelessly. “Help. He lost so many blood.” And there were nurses whom came with the stretcher. They immediately took him to the ICU ward. We followed and waited outside the ward. Melly and I clinged to each other, praying and crying, while Matt was pacing around the alley. I had never seen Matt so worried like that. Nurses came in and out every ten minutes, but none of them answered any of our questions.

After what it seemed like an hour, the doctor came out. Matt quickly approached him. “He is fine. We just give him anxiety. He is sleeping now.” he said. I  relieved and so did Melly.”I need to talk to his family member.”

“Thank you doc. I’ll inform his family. Can we see him now?”Matt asked.

“I suggest not to. Let him take rest. You can come back tomorrow morning.” The doctor replied and left the three of us there.

Few seconds later, Matt turned to me and Melly, “I should go inform his family.” he said.

“I’m coming.” Melly and I said together.

“No, no. Mel, you stay until I come back and Tabby, you should go home. I’ll drop you. Let’s go. “Matt extended his hand to me.

I simply ignored it. “What? Are you mad? I’m not going anywhere until he’s okay.”

“He is okay. Don’t hear what the doctor said?”

“I do. I’m still not going until he is awake or at least until his family comes.”

Matt sighed; he knew how stubborn I could be.”Fine! Just wait here, both of you.” he looked at me and Melly and left.

My tears had dried. We sat down beside Emm’s ward. I could feel the time moved slower that it was before, that was when I realized what Matt said was true. What time was that? I had never been out from my house for this long. It wasn’t about how they would worried about me, they never did. It was just the thought that I’d be grounded struck me. There was a small chance that I could see Emm again tomorrow.

45 minutes later…

Matt came, followed by a ginger haired guy and a dark haired girl. I instantly recognized the girl. It was Anne, Emm’s sister. I met her few times with Emm. The guy must be someone Emm knew, since as far as I knew Emm didn’t have any brother. Both of them shared the same emotion in their face, worried.

“What happened to Emm?” Anne rushed to door but Melly stopped her.

“He is sleeping, now. He is fine. You can see him in the morning.” Melly said.

Matt and the ginger haired boy approach me.”This is Brian.” Matt introduced us,”Friend of Emm.”

“I’m deeply sorry, Brian.” My voice was hoarser then I imagined.

“Don’t be. I should thank you, all of you for bringing Emm here. He couldn’t be alive without of you guys.” he smiled weakly.”I think I and Anne will be here. You guys should go home, it’s pretty late now.”

“No. It’s…” Matt quickly cut me.”Yeah, I do think so.” he circled his arm around my waist. I threw a quizzical look at him, but he didn’t even bother to look at me.”I’ll drop them. Goodnight, Brian.” Brian nodded and Matt took us from there.

I still didn’t like the idea of leaving, but Matt didn’t even let me voice a word. My only hope was Melly and surprisingly she didn’t say anything but followed us. We went straight to the elevator.

“Why did you say like that?” I shouted at him as we inside the elevator

“What?” Matt seemed surprise with my anger.

“To Brian. Why did you say like that? Emm is our friend.”

“They are his family. We have done enough by bringing him here, and now let his family take care of him,” he answered, “and what do you think? I will just let you sleep in here?”

I scoffed, “Since when do you care?”

But before he could answer, the elevator was opened again and about three came inside. That put an end on our beat. Matt couldn’t answer my question, not that I cared actually. I stepped backward beside Melly. We stayed silent while the elevator went down. Matt’s last words were echoing in my head.
