Tabitha POV
Somehow I managed to wake up and get ready early. I never really had a breakfast in the morning, and my parent’s morning fights had my stomach full already. I walked out from my house to Melly’s house. It took me two minutes to get to her house, and she was already in front of her house, ready to leave.
“Morning Mel.” I greeted her with a wide grin. I was expecting her to shout at me because I didn’t reply any of her messages last night, but surprisingly she didn’t even ask me about that.
“So you are back with Matt?” She asked me suddenly as we walked.
“WHAT?” I exclaimed in disbelieve.”What are you talking about? No. I’m not.” She couldn’t think that we were back together just because I agreed to get inside his car.
Melly frowned.”You what? But Emm told me that you were registered as his couple for tomorrow party? I don’t get it Tabby.”
“Wait, as in the masquerade party? “ I asked.” Me neither” I added in the same confusion. I told her about what happened between me and Matt yesterday. “It was true he gave me the ticket, but I didn’t take it.” I told her. Why would Matt register me as his couple?
Melly didn’t say anything for couple of minutes.”Do you really think that—“ I knew what she was thinking. Is he still love me? I shook my head quickly as the last thought ran in my mind. I didn’t want to give myself another fake hope. Melly nodded. “Maybe we should just check it out then.”
I couldn’t agree more with her, but there was a quick question popped in my head.”How did Emm know about that?”
“He asked me to come with him for the party. But if you are not going, I’m not going either.” Melly answered simply.
“No. No, you have to go, Mel. Stop thinking about me.” I really don’t want to ruin her happiness. She had been there for me all the time; she barely had a time for herself.
“Do we really have to discuss it now?”
I just sighed; it was no use arguing with her. All the way to school, my mind was wandering about Emm asked her to the party. I was happy for my friend, but that fact that it was from Emm made my stomach cramping. Was what it? Jealousy?

EMMANUEL POV
I couldn’t help thinking about her all night. I knew I didn’t have the chance like the boy had. What was his name? Matthew something. But she had carved her face in my mind since yesterday. Why I should meet her the moment I decided there were no more girls in my life.
The class room was almost full when I came in, there were some familiar faces I spotted as I walked in, but my eyes were just set on her, Tabitha. I didn’t know anything about her, I wanted to, but she didn’t show any interest on me. I was sure about one thing, I didn’t have much chance, but I had to try. I brushed my eyes to where the boy seated himself yesterday, it was empty, Matt didn’t come to school. This could be my first chance.
“What’s that?” I heard Melly asked her as I walked passed them to my seat.
“The ticket.” Instantly I knew what they were talking about. It was about the masquerade party tomorrow. I was about to ask her to the party if Matt didn’t come first. But from her tone, she didn’t show any interest in joining the party.
I seated myself behind them.”So are you coming to the party tomorrow?” I asked them.
As I expected she didn’t answer instantly.”I—I honestly don’t know.”
“Well I thought you will be going with Matt.”
There were a few minutes silence enveloping us.
“I think you should go Tabby.” Melly said.”If he asked you to come, maybe he wants to explain everything.”
I couldn’t get what they were talking about. Tabitha didn’t reply. I decided to ask Melly about what happened between her and Matt when she wasn’t around.
****
The class ended sooner than yesterday, Tabitha didn’t join us since she had an extra class. It was the perfect time to ask Melly about her.
“Melly, I was just wondering what happened between Tabby and Matt?” I asked as I drove her to her home.
Melly was a quiet surprised by my question, but she still answered it.”They were together for few months last year, but he suddenly left her. No one really knew what the reason was.”
I remained silent for few minutes, trying to figure out by myself what was the reason.”So do you think he still loves her?”
“I don’t know. But honestly I don’t trust him. I know how hurt she was, I don’t want that happen to her again. And Matt isn’t the one that can make her happy.”
I felt a bit relief that Melly had the same thought with me. ”What about Tabby, she still loves him?”
Melly threw a quizzical look at me “I—I don’t know. Why are you asking such things?”
“Nothing.” I answered her. The relief I felt a minute ago suddenly gone, leaving a burden in my heart.
