"Get in there, you." Fuse shoved Marion into a cell and locked the door. She lay there on the floor, trying to recover from being forcefully manhandled in there. As she tried to get up, Havoc reached through the bars and kicked her down again. Marion wimpered. She closed her eyes, waiting for the next hit, but the only sound that came was manical laughter and the sound of a slamming door. Then a voice.
"Jeez, that was unnecessarily violent aye?"
Marion sat bolt upright. She wasn't the only one here.
"Calm down, Mai. You're scaring her." Another voice spoke up, a man's voice this time. As her eyes got used to the darkness, she could make out at least two other cells, one containing a young girl in her teens with intensely curly hair and striking grey-blue eyes. Nextdoor to her was a relatively old man, prehaps in his early 60s who shared the same striking eyes, this time framed by silver glasses. Somehow, Marion managed to struggle to her feet. "Who are you? And where are we?"
The girl chuckled. "What is this, the Spanish Inquisition? But, to answer your question, I'm Maya McHale. Not my real name, of course, it's just my alias at the moment. It'll change in a month or two."
The man rolled his eyes. "Sorry about her. Likes to speak in riddles. I'm Teddy. Taid, to Mai, as she's my granddaughter. As for where we are, who knows? Space, probably. At the heart of a criminal mastermind's HQ."
Marion shook her head and tried to take in all this new information. Maya spoke again. "Who are you?"
"Marion. Marion Van Arkel."
Basically started from scratch with this chapter. Hope it's still good. Maddie has been replaced by Maya, who is a slightly less annoying version of me. Taid/Teddy is still a tribute to my grandad. Might add other members of my family later on but Maya and Taid won't be as prominent characters as they were.
