The kiss grew more intense with each passing second, the two of them were unable to pull away from each other.

Unfortunately for them, the telephone rang before their little romp could get any deeper. Valentine reluctantly put his shirt back on and headed downstairs.

Zara was left leaning against the wall panting and annoyed by the separation of their lips. She buttoned up her blouse and ran a hand through her hair.

As she headed downstairs, Valentine suddenly zipped past her. "What's going on?" Zara asked, her stomach feeling queasy all of a sudden.

"It's one of my patient's, she's in a critical condition." Valentine said, with an ashen expression on his face.

"She must mean a lot to you if you're this rattled," Zara said as she watched him shove on his lab coat and put on his stethoscope.

"Hazel and I have become quite close these past few weeks." Valentine said, kissing her forehead and running to the door.

Zara gasped. "W-who?" She stuttered.

"Hazel, a sweet old lady." He said, with a sad smile on his face.

"I'm coming with you." Zara said, grabbing her phone.

"Do you know her?" Valentine asked, as they got into the car.

"Yes. She's my grandmother." Zara whispered, tears started falling down her cheeks.

Valentine could only imagine the turmoil and pain Zara was experiencing. Ever since he was a child, Valentine had always been understanding. He was currently battling with his brain. What could he say to her? He decided to play it safe and keep his mouth shut. He only placed his large hand over hers and squeezed it tightly. Zara hesitantly turned to look at him. He returned her look of pain with one of hope, encouragement and comfort.

"Your grandmother is a wonderful woman." Valentine smiled.

Zara turned to look at him with a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Probably explains my awesomeness." She said, using her other hand to flip her hair.

Valentine snorted. "You wish."

"Continue talking like that and you'll never see me naked." Zara smirked.

Valentine's smug expression fell. "What, no! We don't need to go to such drastic measures." Valentine said, shaking his head 'no' repeatedly.

"Then behave yourself." Zara huffed.

"Yes ma'am." Valentine nodded vigorously.

Zara smiled triumphantly. She then turned to look at a smiling Valentine. "Thanks." She said.

"No problem." Valentine said, kissing her cheek then turning his attention to the road.

"I know you're there Zara, come in." Granny Hazel called from her room.

"How'd you know it was me?" Zara chuckled, her eyes teary when she noticed the frail condition her grandmother was in.

"Please Buhle, I can smell your clumsiness from a mile away." Granny Hazel smiled faintly.

"You look-

"Like shit, yes I know." Granny Hazel chuckled.

"I wasn't gonna say that." Zara rolled her eyes as she sat down on a chair.

"You know better than to lie to me." Granny Hazel scoffed.

"I was honestly going to say you look terrible." Zara said in an as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
