what do you believe in?

"Hello [Y/N]."

"Hi Dad." I said groggily. I hated waking up so early and I didn't understand why I had to arrive at the U.A campus so early. I yawned as poured myself of coffee.

"I'm glad you decided to go to U.A." he said, flipping the pancake. Of course he said that. Mom had gone to U.A and graduated there. She was one of All Might's sidekicks until she died in the fight against Toxic Chainsaw five years ago. I was bitter about her dying since All Might should have saved her like he did with everyone else, but I knew that her sacrifice wasn't in vain. I glance over Mom's wedding ring on my finger, watching it shimmer in the dim light. I sighed, sitting on the bar stool. I held the cup of coffee. "You're such an amazing daughter, [Y/N]."

"How come?" I asked. "Did you not hear about my vigilante work?"

Dad shook his head, "I did, but that doesn't matter. Your heart is coming from the right place." He slipped the pancake onto a plate, pouring more of the pancake mix in the pan, "I was a former villain, [Y/N]. Your mother has captured me and managed to break through me." I hadn't heard about this before. I blinked, surprised. My Dad was always a happy-go-lucky, caring and charismatic guy and everyone loved him. He was an amazing parent and he works at a daycare.

I laughed at the idea, "you? A villain? That sounds like blasphemy to me."

"It's true though," he said with a sad smile, "after she broke through me and I became a support hero after remediation." That, I knew. He retired three years ago as a support hero since he worked under the same agency as Mom, and was too disheartened for continue. I glanced at him, adjusting the wedding ring subconsciously. "I wasn't surprised when I heard you were a vigilante. It sounded like something you would do," he said with an airy laugh. I chuckled at that, he wasn't wrong. "But I'm glad you decided to go to U.A."

"Why?"

"I don't want to see you in prison [Y/N], I really don't."

"...I know."

"I know you didn't want to go there but it was your only choice," he said, sliding over the plate of pancakes. He handed me a fork. "Maybe you can learn more things and be a better hero than your mother."

"Mom was an amazing pro-hero. I don't think I can be anything like her." Mother had first worked under Nana Shimura around the same time she trained All Might. The two were pretty close and after Shimura retired, Mother had worked under All Might. Mother wasn't a showy kind of hero. She wanted to save as many people she could with her quirk, just like All Might. I bit into the pancakes, "this is good." I said through a mouthful.

"Don't talk while you're chewing," he replied, not looking away from the stove. He was making more pancakes for himself.

"Sorry," I said, swallowing. Dad just shook his head with an exasperated sigh.

"You'll be under the watchful eye of the pro-hero Eraser Head."

"Okay."

"Don't cause any trouble for him, got it?" He said, turning around.

"What's with that look in your eyes?" I asked, slightly amused and slightly intimidated.
