❝ i don't need validation to be happy. ❞
I sat down at my usual spot for dinner. Nobody really bothers to sit with me or talk to me. It sounds depressing but frankly, I don't care. I ate today's dinner like it was nothing. I glanced up, seeing the split haired kid from my class, the No.2 pro-heroes son. I didn't say anything since he probably sat here because he'd rather be left alone and, well, most of the tables are full and quite..noisy. The air was awkward and I probably should talk to him anyways so I took a deep breath. "Hi."
He glanced up. "Hi."
"Um...Todoroki Shoto, wasn't it?"
He nodded. "You're [L/N] [Y/N], right?"
"Y-Yeah..." I was surprised he even bothered to remember my name. "I heard you're...the number two hero's son, is that correct?"
"...yes."
"I can sort of relate." I said.
"How so, [L/N]?"
"My mom was Dreameater." I said, "and my dad worked under the same agency. He used to be the villain, the Hallucinator." I picked up another spoonful of curry. "He became a pro hero and he retired after my mom died. I know what it's like to have pro-hero parents."
"At least you had..loving parents."
"Oh! Does your Dad not love you?" I asked, dropping the spoon. "Oh shit—"
"I'm not asking you to feel sorry for me [L/N]." Todoroki said without glancing up.
I frowned, "I mean I know what the pressure's like."
"Yeah. But people don't know it that much, do they? Dreameater's a deceased pro-hero."
I shrugged. "Mom and I's quirk are pretty similar. I got a mixture of my parents, like you." I stared over at him. "Why did you sit here?" I asked, knowing the answer.
"It's just more quiet over here." He said.
"Yeah, nobody sits with me because of the crime rumors surrounding me."
"Are they...true?" He asked.
I shook my head, "no, but good for you if you think they are. I don't care."
"Why not?"
"It's not my opinion." I replied with a smile, "you can form your own opinions. I don't have to think for you."
"Ah.."
I glanced at him, "hey, Todoroki?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you come by to U.A.?"
"My..father."
"I see." I glanced back down at my plate.
"What about you?"
I let go of my spoon, letting out a shaky sigh. "It's a long story."
"You came here on your own?"
"Not by choice," I answered back. I rested my chin on my hand, playing with my food. "I used to wanna go here because of my mom..being a hero sounded so cool, but now..."
