Safiya manages to somehow make it through the last couple of hours of her clinical shift. She packs up to leave and runs into the bathroom real quick to make sure her face looks okay. The little makeup she wore today seems to have made it through. Safi gives herself a small smile. You're really about to see this man again. What are the odds? Safi's thoughts are interrupted by her phone buzzing.
Hey, it's Eman. I'm downstairs in the lobby whenever you're ready to go. (:
Safi's heart jumps while reading the text. She grabs her stuff and heads out of the bathroom and to the elevator. Safi is waiting for the elevator when she feels a tap on her shoulder. She turns to see Dr. Motts standing there with a big ass grin on her face. Safi rolls her eyes and laughs.
"Are you ready for your date?" Dr. Motts teases Safi, poking her upper arm. Safi crosses her arms. "It's not a date, we're just meeting up to talk." Safi replies, getting on to the now open elevator. Dr. Motts follows her in and press the button for the lobby. "Oh, sure. Meeting just to talk. Did you mean: a date?" Dr. Motts laughs. "We didn't say it's a date, so I'm not calling it a date. Besides, who goes on a date in scrubs?" Safi proclaims, looking down at her current attires. "Only every doctor ever" , Dr. Motts scoffs, remembering every date she's shown up to in scrubs.
The elevator reaches the lobby and they exit. Safi's eyes immediately start scanning the lobby for Eman. She spots him in a chair near the door. "Wish me luck" , Safi mumbles quietly to Dr. Motts. Dr. Motts gives Safi a hug and waves her off. Safi walks briskly towards Eman who's looking down at his phone. When Safi gets about 10 feet away from him, Eman looks up and gives her a side smile. Safi could've melted right there.
"You ready to go? I was thinking we should go to this ramen place I know. We'll get the privacy we'll need for this type of conversation." Eman grins, looking Safi up and down. Even in just scrubs, she looks extremely attractive to him. Safi agrees and they walk out of the hospital and walk towards the restaurant Eman suggested. After reaching the restaurant and placing their orders, Eman studies Safi's face for a bit.
"So, about this dream. How long have you been having this dream of ours?" Eman questions with a raised brow. Safi looks up with a look of embarrassment. "Well prior to it coming true, it had been about two months. It wasn't every night though. Maybe three or four nights out of the week." Safi informs, finding it hard to look Eman in the eyes. Eman nods and sits in his thoughts for a few moments. "That's how it has been for me too. It wasn't every night I had the dream. However, after it came true, I've had the dream every single night." Eman ponders, wondering why that is.
"That's how it's been for me too. I started having the dream every night, but what changed is that I could see your face in them. I couldn't see it before." Safi confesses before their server puts down their bowls of ramen. They dig into their meal for a couple of minutes before further discussing the predicament that brought them together.
