(Malibu California)

Lance P.O.V

Lance watched as large pale gray house came into view. It was modern, a nice roof and clean cut lawn. The sky was starting to turn pink from the setting sun. Alnce yawned, he had been up since 6 because he didn't want to sleep during the plane ride.

It was his first time on a plane, and he had loved every second of it. The liftoff had startled him a little, but he loved being in the sky. Veronica, on the other hand

had been scared and cuddled up against their Dad the whole time.

Now Lance watched the trees dance in the strongs winds and fly by as his family flew down the interstate on the way to Abuelita's house in the rental car from Enterprise. It was a dark blue Chrysler 2008 Aspen that had a small dent in the right bumper.
It was Friday night, almost 6 p.m and Lance was already tired.

He yawned his hot breath fogging up the window. He wondered if he would fit in at his new school, Voltron Academy a K-8 grade school about 10 minutes away from Abuelita's house. She lived at 217 Fern Street, Marmora Village in Malibu California.
In Cuba, Lance had 2 best friends, Roselle and Francisco but he knew he would probably never see them again.

He was sad, but not too sad because he wanted to see new places. He couldn't wait to make new friends here in California even if he didn't exactly know why they were here.

He liked Cuba, seeing his cousins and aunts and uncles every day. It had been nice being so connected but he never really thought of it then. And didn't now.
Instead he thought about how cool it had been watching the planes take off from the terminal window in the airport at Cuba.
He had watched them with his father, the man with the glowing sticks and safety jacket running down the runway directing the airplanes.
It was the coolest thing Lance had ever seen.

"Lance" Veronica whispered. She was sitting next to him in the backseat of the car because Victor and Marco were in their baby seats in the middle.

"What?" Lance asked reluctantly turning towards her.

"I miss Diana. I don't want to be here..do you?" Veronica asked tugging on a loose curl that stubbornly fell on her face.

Lance shrugged. "I think it's cool here. I like it. I like the air." Lance said smiling. Veronica narrowed her eyes.

"Yeah..okay.." She said turning back.

Lance watched her slump back against the window. Lance could barely remember Diana, but he knew she was Veronica's best friend. The two had known each other since they were 4 when Diana moved into the neighborhood. Lance had been 2 when that happened and couldn't remember.

"Are we almost there? I can't feel my legs Mommy." Lance whined. He hadn't moved his legs in what seemed like years now.

"Actually yes, probably estimating about 10 more minutes." Rosa replied sleepily.
--------------------------------------

The neighborhood was small, split into 3 streets that made up Marmora Village.
The first street was Hampton Street, and was lined with 5 houses on either side of a cul de sac.
The same went for Fern Street, but the third street Tempest Street was cut short having no cul de sac and instead a small Park.

The Park really just included a big lawn with benches strewn around the edges of it and trees spread across it, pathways streaming in between the trees.
On Holidays, the trees were decorated with lights and there were sometimes events held there. But truthfully, the neighborhood wasn't that social as there weren't that many people.
