(8 year old Keith's Childhood Memorie)
"Mommy! Daddy! It's the day! Come on, we are going to be late!" Keith yelled running into his parents room.
Krolia groggily sat up and rubbed her face with her coarse hands. "Keith what is it?" she asked, slightly alarmed.
Keith frowned and plopped down on the bed pouting. Krolia looked at James, who was slowly waking up. He looked between his wife and youngest son.
"You forgot didn't you?" Keith sighed sadly.
James grabbed Keith's arm and cradled him. "No, of course not. Your mother was just tired. How could we forget your beach trip with the Mcclains?" he said grinning at Krolia.
Krolia's eyes widened. "Oh I didn't forget Keith! I thought it was something else." She said smiling sweetly at the boy.
"I knew you wouldn't forget!" Keith said giving his mother a peck on the cheek.
James rubbed Keith's head and then placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Now, go get dressed and pack okay? While your mother and I get ready?"
"Yeah" Keith said. He got up and ran down the hall to his room.
"Krolia.." James said slowly.
"Look, I didn't forget I just.."
"Forgot? Yeah.." James said chuckling.
A pillow hit the back of his head. He turned to see Krolia laughing.
"You should see your face right now James." She said smiling.
James picked up a pillow and started back towards the woman who was getting up to get away from him.
James grinned. "Oh it's on now."
Krolia giggled and ran from him.
----------------------------
Keith quickly threw on shorts and a t-shirt, throwing his swim trunks in a bag with a towel and a few other items Krolia insisted he take.
The last time he used any of these things were when James took him and Shiro to the beach about a month back. James had been teaching them, ormore Keith to swim. Shiro had caught on when he was 4. And perfected it by 5. Keith on the other hand had been struggling his whole life.
They used to go swimming at the gym swimming pool in Texas, but Keith never caught on. And in California, he still hadn't. He blamed it on his parents. They were bad teachers. So, Krolia claimed that maybe Lance and his family could teach Keith since Lance always bragged about how he used to swim a lot with his family in Cuba.
Keith sighed as he grabbed his bag. He heard his parents laughing in the room next to him and rolled his eyes. He dragged the bag out of the room and walked towards Shiro's.
"Shiro?" Keith asked quietly as he sulked over to his brothers bed and sat down on it.
Shiro was at his desk in the corner. He had wire rimmed glasses low on his nose as he peered over a small device he was studying. The boy was only 10, but ever since Keith was born he had grown up way too fast. He practically was an adult already. Keith thought of him as his number 1 role model.
"Hey!" Shiro exclaimed turning around and taking off the glasses. He wasn't too tall, average height but was already accumulating muscles.
"You..you look worried. Are you okay?" Shiro asked sitting next to Keith. Keith shrugged. How could he tell Shiro that he was scared? Scared to go swimming..even if with his best friend?
