The next few days passed slowly, and Keith was impatient waiting for his brother to arrive. He needed someone to lean on and Shiro had always been there for that. To keep his mind off of things, Keith teamed up with Hunk, Matt and Lance secretly to help Pidge with her new relationship.
It seemed to be going well, the last time, none of them knew Hazel at all, the closest they had come was Keith being in her homeroom that year. And even so he talked to her maybe twice. This time, they had spent two weeks around Karin so they knew she wouldn't break Pidge's heart. That gave them somewhat peace of mind.
Pidge spent her every waking hour that Karin could talk chatting, and Lance and Hunk had been right, it was clear both girls just needed a carefree relationship where they could feel loved and have fun. It almost seemed to be mending Pidge's broken heart. Her scars would disappear and her smile shined.
Finally, Monday arrived along with Shiro, Allura and Coran. Keith was in bed sleeping in when he felt someone knock him in the head with a pillow. He groaned, turning over to see Shiro grinning with Coran standing behind him chuckling.
Keith tried to make his smile disappear and seem like he was angry but it was impossible. He stood up and hugged his brother inviting Coran too.
"Someone's cuddly this morning." Shiro said mussing Keith's hair, and laughing. Keith pulled away patting his bed head.
"Is it so bad I missed you?" He asked frowning. Shiro shook his head laughing. "No not at all. I missed you too. Sorry Allura had to get to work before the meeting started,which is in a mere half hour...but Coran wanted to see you!"
Keith grinned as Coran handed him a package of foil. "What is this?.." Keith asked as he unwrapped it.
Coran grinned as Keith opened the package, a little cake leaving crumbs in his hands. "My special cake! I've been perfecting it the whole trip!" He said gleefully.
Keith glanced at Shiro before sniffing the cake, "Whats in it?" He asked Coran. Coran grinned, "it's a surprise! Try it and see!" Keith hesitated before taking a bite, he chewed for a little before narrowing his eyes. He was slowly deciphering what it was.
"Chocolate...lots of chocolate...maybe..uh..some kind of nut? Hazelnut?..and there's something else.." He took another bite, before squinting at Coran. "Does this have bourbon in it?"
Coran blushed and Shiro yelped. He snatched the cake. "I don't know what surprises me more, that you would put alcohol in a cake for my 16 year old brother or-" he turned on Keith."That my 16 year old brother would know what bourbon tasted like!!"
"Hey! I've been to some parties you can't tell me you didn't try some stuff at this age!" Keith said defensively. Shiro shook his head turning to Coran. "Uh...Bourbon is for the brain, stimulates growth." He nodded wisely.
"Stimulates- what the heck?? I can't believe you.." Shiro said running a hand through his jet black hair. Keith grinned at Coran.
"Anyway," Shiro grumbled. "It's almost 12 what do you guys what to do all day?" He asked. Keith was silent, he hadn't thought this part through. "We can go see a movie! And have lunch maybe?" Coran piped up. Shiro looked at Keith. "I'm fine with that. Keith?"
Keith shrugged. "That's cool but I think Coran should pay." Coran frowned. "But I came up with the idea.." He said. "True..Shiro should pay then."
