Tokyo, Japan
The crew landed around 7 hours later in Tokyo. It was still in the middle of the night, around 12 a.m,close to 1. The night air was cool, and there was no salty tint in it. The terminal was even more crowded than the one in California, and more colorful. Everything had signs and boards, all with words typed in Japanese. The terminal was shaped like an octagon, with sterile floors and walls that led up to a domed and vaulted ceiling. It was bigger than the terminal in Malibu, but you almost couldn't tell with all the people in it.
Pidge had been asleep the whole time, and wasn't very happy she had to wake up. She was cranky and demanding. Mostly of food. The others though, were totally opposite. During the flight, Keith had been listening to his "downloaded playlist of calming songs", as Matt continued to mock him on. Keith claimed that he had still been struggling with his fear of heights, and his music helped him calm down. Matt still didn't let up on the jokes though. Hunk on the other hand, was keeping Lance up to date with stories of all the times he and the others had in the past year and a half they had known each other. There were various stories, like one where Pidge and Matt had tried to scare Keith. They of course told Hunk, and Hunk being the loyal best friend he was, told Keith. So of course, Keith turned the table. When the Holt siblings turned up to sneak into his house using the spare key Keith had given Matt, Keith was waiting.
He had recorded multiple videos of himself talking at different times. He made it seem like he was held captive and was helpless. Truly, he was hiding in his room with Hunk, and when he heard the siblings opening the door he was prepared. He had set up the different recordings on seperate devices around the house, where he assumed the siblings would go if they followed the directions the recordings held, to get to him. He had also had Hunk help him sync the recordings to one device, so he could control them all on his own. So, he sat in his room with Hunk and started the sequence.
In the end, when the siblings ended up back at the front door, Matt was actually freaking out and considering if they should call the cops. But Pidge of course, saw right through Keith's plan and went looking for him. The first place she checked? His room. So Keith and Hunk got chewed out and Matt was pretty hurt, but after they all looked back on it as a funny story. Which Hunk told Lance. Along with a few others, and Pidge would probably kill him if she found out he did.
"So, Pidge..how are we getting to the place we are staying at?" Keith asked peering at the signs on the venues as the friends passed by them.
Pidge yawned and looked wearily around. "Um, it's like 4 miles away? Maybe a 30 minute drive, but my dad set us up with a rental car. So we don't have to use a taxi..which are way too expensive."
Lance laughed. "They can't be that expensive."
"Yeah right, for just one mile, it is almost 80 yen which is like almost 90 dollars in our money." Keith said shaking his head.
"Oh, I knew that." Lance said.
"Okay.." Matt said. Then turning to Pidge, "Wait, dad did what?"
"I told him the dilemma, so he decided to pitch in. He got a promotion at NASA anyway, so he gave me some extra cash. He was practically rewarding us for leaving him and mom alone for a few weeks." Pidge shrugged.
Matt gaped at her for a few seconds before frowning. "But he couldn't tell me any of that. Yeah that's nice."
Pidge nudged him. "Oh stop whining, you big baby."
"Alright, where's this rental car now?" Hunk asked turning to Pidge. Hunk looked even more tired than Pidge, and still he insisted on carrying Lance's luggage.
