<Keith's POV>
With Lance doing practically everything around the house, all I've been doing is laying around. I did a few crosswords, read a romance novel that I'd bought to read on the plane who knows how many years ago. Something about vampires, like Dracula but less creepy. Whenever Lance was home he was doing chores, picking up after the kids, it makes you really step back and look at all of the stuff I really do. I cook, I clean, I keep my kids from crying over every little thing, and for what? Just to sit down with Lance for a few hours before he falls asleep?
It is so much fun watching him suffer so much. I've been home for almost a week now, and the kids haven't been too hard on him. Damon had a freak out when Lance accidentally washed one of his special pairs of shorts, don't ask, with everyone else's clothes. And Kitty ended up skipping class one day to go hang out with some of the senor cadets and Philip. Lance ended up freaking out, trying to ground her for a week. That was the only time I budded in on the new temporary parenting methods.
~About two days ago~
"Dad! Papa is being totally unfair!" I hear as Kitty comes running into my room. Now, I know I should've listened to both of them first, but my daughter was in a half torn crop top, skinny jeans and a very baggy sweatshirt the was obviously not hers.
I didn't even have time to sit up before she laid down next to me, crossing her arms as Lance followed into the room. "Katherine, this is childish, get up and just except your punishment." He practically growls as he goes to put a hand on her shoulder. She screeches, forcing her shoulder away from Lance as she squeezed her eyes shut. I put a hand on he forehead, not feeling any fever. I still look up at Lance, eyeing my hand on her forehead. "Kitty, I still want you to come talk with me before dinner." With that he walked out.
"Thanks dad." Kitty says as she slowly opens her eyes.
I smile, sitting up and pulling her over, slowly brushing through her hair with my fingers. "So, first off, what did you do to get him that mad? Second, what did he say he's was gonna do? Third, what's with the little get up city girl?" I get a small laugh out of her as she looks down at her outfit.
"Ah, well, I might have skipped classes to go hang out with some upper classmen." I frown, shaking my head as she kept explaining. "And Papa cornered me as soon as I got home, telling me that I was going to be grounded for a week, without even hearing me out!" I stopped brushing through, glaring over at the door.
"Kitty, I know it might seem off because of the new roles your Papa is taking on, but remember that I am still here. And you aren't grounded for a week, a few days maybe, but, please tell me you were with Olivia or something?" I asked, my heart almost stopping as she hesitated.
She took in a breath, releasing it as she grabbed her neck. "I was.. kinda with Philip, but then a few girls pulled me off to a bathroom and dressed me up, and then he kinda just stayed behind me the rest of the time. He was watching me, but it was more like he was trying to get me to leave the whole time. Like he thought I didn't belong there. I don't know." She huffed a little, starting to braid a piece of her hair.
"Uh, you don't belong with those people, and I am glad that someone is looking out for you other than your parents. You should be grateful, most people don't have good friends like that." I pointed out as she groaned. "Waat? It's true!"
She rolled her eyes, turning back to me. "Philip's my cousin, he has to be nice to me." Her voice was stern as she turned back around. "Plus, who needs good friends when you have knives?" And she left my room, causing a very loud argument with her father.
~Present~
Her grounding ended up being only two days after I got Lance to sit down and listen to his daughter for once. She still didn't like the fact that she was grounded for two days, but I don't think she'll be skipping anytime soon. Lance almost burned that crop-top, it was kinda funny.
Tonight, Damon has been anything but cooperative. He first refused to go out with me to the gardens to get some fresh herbs, then he tried sneaking out of the house through Kitty's bedroom window, which was always unlock, and now he's refusing to take a bath.
The three other adults kept trying to find ways to get him to take a bath, even Kitty butting in a one point to suggest bribery. I finally came out, thankful to be on my feet again and Damon is almost in tears as he and Lance are in a screaming match.
"No me puedes-"
"Estoy bastante seguro de que puedo pequeño señor!"
"EXCUSE ME!" I yell, the two stopping, my parents flinching at the sound as stare down Damon, making direct eye contact the whole time. "Go get ready for your bath, now. No if or buts." I turn towards Lance as Damon scurries off towards the kids bathroom. "Honey, take an hour to yourself, go relax or something, you just tried to fight a six year old." I watched as he shuffled over to the couch, muttering something in Spanish as he sat down. I look towards both of my parents, who apparently have been watching my movements from the background. "Sorry, I.. it's not usually like this. I'll be back on my fee-"
"Keith it is okay. We understand that this is hard. You do no need to worry." Krolia stopped me, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Just remember that you aren't alone." She smiled down at me as I hug her.
"Thanks mom."
