When I read books, I always like to read the author's note at the end so I though I'd so one too because why not, right?
I started writing this story when I was 11. The day I upload this, I am 15 in 12 days. So you could say it's been a working process for a while.
The 11 year old me version of the story was quite different to the finished product. I had the same basic idea, but focused more on things like the island and school stuff rather than the show. I was basically going to be a story about how Jack and Ricky grew apart as friends because Jack was in the school musical.
That was how it was going to be until just over a month ago. I uploaded those first two chapters I don't even know how long ago then forgot about the whole thing completely. I don't know what made me click on the Wattpad app on the night of the 5th of July, but I did. And I was so shocked and excited to see that people had been reading my story! Well, the beginning of it anyway. Thank you SO SO SO much for the comments on those first to chapters (I'm sure you know who you are, thanks for shouting me out too. Literally thank you so much) because without them, and without you there is about a 0.02% chance that I would have actually written the rest of it.
It was luck that, on the 3rd of July, I had been to see Billy Elliot in London. I hadn't known anything about it before I saw it, so it was very useful for writing this story (and now I love it, of course). I only chose Billy Elliot to be the school musical in the first place because I needed a show that Jack, my year 7, could be the main part in. But now it means a whole lot more than that.
I feel like I need to thank you all for reading and commenting and voting because that truly is what's kept me writing. I've been trying to finish stories since I was little and I don't think I have actually finished one until now. So THANK YOU ALL YOU ARE AMAZING AND SO LOVELY!
I also feel like Google deserves a shout out here for being there the amount of times I searched 'another word for...'. Also, the cast of Billy Elliot that I saw for making me fall in love with it.
Okay. Stay cool, express yourselves, love life, do what makes you happy. (I promise I'm not this cheesy in real life) Okay thank you bye, I'll miss this a lot.
Thanks again
Alice x
