Surprise Cruise (Style)

Kyle walked to his desk listlessly, still upset about yesterday. He wasn't sure if he was ready to forgive his friend after the harsh words they exchanged. He was known to be an even-keeled person, but this was different. Kyle put his head down and waiting for his teacher to start the lesson. He regretted not just staying in bed and saying he was sick or something. He jumped a little in his seat when someone lightly poked him on his shoulder. Looking up, he immediately recognized the person.

"What do you want Stan?" Kyle asked, venom dripping with his words.

"Well... I-uh," Stan stuttered. It took exertion just to look at him, let alone speak. "I just wanted to apologize for yesterday. I didn't mean what I said."

"Putting a bandaid on a crack doesn't fix it," Kyle said curtly.

"I know, so I wanted to make it up to you. I really want to resolve this so we can be friends again. My family is goin' on a cruise... and I was thinking that you might want to come with me?" Stan said with a serious shyness.

"This isn't just a charade?" Kyle asked with doubt.

"Yeah, it's tomorrow, will you come?" Stan said hopefully.

"Sure, dude," Kyle smiled, jittering his leg with euphoria. He was already wondering what odyssey they would experience. Maybe this would help their friendship. He went through the rest of the day, happily chatting with Stan, although with a slight awkwardness at times.

The next day, Kyle met Stan at the dock with the rest of his family. He was elated the whole time. He watched as the large cruise boat slowly teetered on the slight rocking waves.

"You didn't have to do this, ya' know," Kyle said gratefully.

"I know, but I wanted to," Stan said with a smile. "I wanted to show how sorry I really am."

"I forgive you. You really went out of your way to make me happy," Kyle said with a slight smile. "Now let's enjoy the cruise!"
