ingrid;

She sighed as she walked out the doors of the university she went to, tired after all of the classes. She put her Marshall headphones over her ears and 'Jingle bells' by Frank Sinatra started playing. The sound of snow crushing was herd as she walked down the streets of Queens, towards her new favorite coffee shop. Snowflakes had been falling down the sky for the past few days, but she never grew tired of them, they were far to beautiful.

Finally she spotted the coffee shop and began walking faster, eager to get a gingerbread latte. She walked inside, 'Frosty The Snowman' by Ella Fitzgerald playing gently from the speakers. She smiled as she herd the familiar melody, the Christmas song being one of her favourites. She looked towards the menu, meeting a pair of familiar hazel eyes. It was the guy who took her order the day before. She smiled kindly, which he returned quickly.

"Hello!" She said happily.

"Hey, what can I get for you?" He asked, a knowing look in his eyes.

"A gingerbread latte with whipped cream, please. Can I get it in my own mug?"

"Course, that'll be six dollars" he said with a small smile playing on his lips. She paid for her latte as he began making it for her. She was in a different mood that day, not wanting to start a conversation with him. She saw him glance over his shoulder, like he was waiting for her to say something. Finally he handed her the latte with a small smile.
"Thank you so much, goodbye." She said as she started walking towards the door.

"Bye! Have a nice day." He said behind her.

"You too, Bye" She said and shut the door behind her. Beginning to walk towards her apartment.

She was from England but moved to New York because she got accepted to a university in Queens. She lived alone in a apartment with only one room, a kitchen and a bathroom. But she loved her home, even though it was small. It was big enough for her, and maybe even for someone else. Ingrid last had a boyfriend in seventh grade, and it ended very dramatically. At the age of eighteen she really wanted someone. But it seemed so hard to actually meet someone that she could be herself around and shared the same interests with.

She unlocked the door to her apartment and walked inside, removing her snowy shoes, putting them by the element. She walked to the large window behind her bed, plugging in the Christmas lights, them spreading a warm and cozy light. She opened the fridge, only to be met by two cans of doctor pepper and a bag of mini milk-chocolate santas. A deep sigh escaped her lips and she closed the door before she grabbed her headphones, wallet and phone. She put on her shoes once more before she put on her long coat, wrapping a thick scarf around her neck, walking out the door. She walked towards the grocery store and when she entered she took a cart. 'Happy Xmas' by John Lennon were playing from the speakers. Might as well stack up, She thought and walked inside.
