Percy POV
Homeroom was uneventful, and Percy was hoping the rest of the day would be the same. As he walked into homeroom, he saw Reyna sitting in the back alone. She was the only person he knew in this class, so he went to sit next to her. When she saw him, her expression brightened. "Hey! I'm so glad there's someone I know in this class!" He smiled back at her as he sat down. "And I'm glad there's someone who knows what they're doing in here." She chatted about her homeroom, mentioning something about a new student, and how the school was buzzing. Most of the kids had been here since freshman year, so a new senior was news. Reyna was about to say something else, when she was cut off by the teacher's arrival. Ms. Hall started talking about algebra or whatever, but was only a few minutes into her tirade when she was interrupted.
At the now open door stood an unfamiliar girl. She was undoubtedly pretty, with long blonde curls, and equally long legs. She stood in the doorway, hesitating. "Uh, I'm sorry. I'm not sure if I'm in the right class." Ms. Hall looked at her. "Well, where are you supposed to be?" The girl looked down at the paper in her hand. "Algebra 2?" "Well you are in the right place. Miss...?" The girl smiled. She looked even prettier when she smiled. "Chase. Annabeth Chase." Ms. Hall gestured to the only empty seat, right in front of me. "Welcome to Goode High Annabeth! Now please take a seat so we can get back to business."
Annabeth walked down the aisle to find her seat. As she approached I got a better look at her face, and the dumb blonde image was killed. Her eyes, as grey as an oncoming storm, were brimming with intelligence. If she was intimidating before, her eyes made her almost scary. I quickly looked away before she caught me staring. Looking away from her turned me to Reyna, who looked as if she had just bitten a lemon. She saw me looking at her and her smile was back. She smirked at me. "I wonder what her deal will be. Maybe she got kicked out of her last school." Having been kicked out of a few myself, I didn't exactly find the comment funny, and I guess she could tell. She went back to examining the new girl, who was now seated at the table in front of us. She was putting her bag on the floor, and our eyes locked. I tried to smile at her, but she quickly frowned and looked away. Guess she wasn't the friendly type.

Annabeth POV
This door had better be the right one. She had already gone into the wrong homeroom today, and she really didn't want to reinforce the dumb blonde stereotype. Annabeth was apprehensive about starting at a new school to begin with, and the fact that it was for her senior year of high school just made it downright upsetting. She missed her friends in California. She missed the house that she had grown up in. And most of all she missed... well she didn't really miss him. At least she didn't want to. Pushing the thought aside, she stepped into her classroom, trying to put on her confident face. No reason for the masses to know she was nervous.
Out of habit, Annabeth scanned the room for familiar faces. While there was obviously no one she knew, there was one person that stood out. He sat in the back row, next to a girl with dark hair pulled into a braid. His hair was the color of obsidian, a black without a hint of brown. And his eyes, even from here she could see their sharp blue green color. Almost the exact same color as the Pacific Ocean. The boy was looking back at her, wait everyone was looking at her, even the teacher. After stammering an introduction, Annabeth went to the only open seat, and of course it was right in front of the handsome boy. The girl next to him was giving her a dirty look, and she didn't need to wonder why. Annabeth had always been good at reading people, and this girl obviously had a crush on her tablemate. Of course, I'm about to inject myself into a love triangle. When she bent down to put her backpack on the ground, she accidentally made eye contact with the boy. He gave her a small smile, and almost against her will she frowned and looked away. Wonderful, now he'll think I'm an asshole. I pushed away the thought and pulled out my math notebook, determined to at least do well in school this year.
