Annabeth POV
The first month of school seemed to fly by. Goode High, which she had been dreading, had become a source of happiness. She and Piper had become really good friends, and Rachel knew a lot about architecture, high praise from Annabeth. Before she knew it, it was September, and Piper had invited her to a party. Something the senior class threw every year, renting out a huge house on Long Island. It was a tradition, and Piper was making her go. Even though she tried not to, Annabeth thought back to Piper's comment about her and Percy complimenting each other a lot. It crossed her mind when their eyes met in class, and whenever he made her laugh. Piper was right about him being kind too. Last week, she had seen him helping a freshman girl pick up her books, after a mean girl had knocked them out of her hands. Annabeth was nearby when he did it, unbeknownst to him. "It gets better." He said to the girl as he handed her the books. "It might not seem like it, but it'll get better." The girl blushed, stammered a thank you, and ran away, obviously shocked at having a hot senior be nice to her.
As we got ready for the party Percy was still on my mind. It was just Piper and I in her huge bathroom, and I knew she wouldn't judge me for asking more about him. "So, has Percy ever had any girlfriends?" I tried to be nonchalant, but Piper gave me a knowing smile. "No, he's never really seemed that interested. Not that he doesn't like girls, but not the ones around him I guess. Reyna and Rachel have both liked him forever, though neither will admit it to the other. And when he started swimming, a bunch of the populars, you know Drew and the like, tried to go after him. He saw through them though, and it didn't go anywhere." I nodded, turning over the new information. Rachel and Reyna liking him didn't surprise me. I saw that from Reyna on my first day. I was kind of surprised that he had still never been with anyone. Piper must have guessed my thoughts, because she laughed. "Yeah pretty much everyone is confused. I'm with Jason, obviously, but I can be objective and tell you that Percy is a slice. Some of his rejects started a rumor that he was gay, but his only response was 'and what would be wrong with that?'" That made Annabeth laugh. Percy just didn't care about that stuff, and Annabeth respected him for it.

Piper POV
Gods, Percy and Annabeth needed to get together already. I had talked to Hazel about it, and we had both seen them sneaking glances at each other. Yesterday, when I was attempting to help Percy study for English, I had broached the topic. "So, Percy..." He looked up from his work, ready for a distraction from homework. "What do you think about Annabeth?" He looked back at his homework and picked up a pencil. I could tell he was blushing. "Oh, gods Percy that bad?" I couldn't help but laugh at him. He was so clueless with girls. He still had no idea Rachel or Reyna liked him, after years of them trying to flirt. Something about Annabeth though... Piper had never seen him like this. She flicked him in the ear to show her sympathy. "Ow! What was that for?" He looked at her slightly irritated. "Perseus Jackson, you like a girl!" "Shout it a little louder. I don't think China heard you." Piper shot him a frown. She decided to drop the topic, but that did not mean she forgot.
Now, primping with Annabeth for the party, Piper was ready for a fresh attempt, especially since Annabeth mentioned him first. As soon as the words "Has Percy had any girlfriends?" left her mouth, I knew Annabeth liked him as much as he liked her. "He'll be at the party I'm sure." I said, hoping to reassure her, but it seemed to make her more nervous. "Piper can I tell you something?" She had a serious look in her eyes, and I grabbed her hand. "Of course! You can tell me anything. Call me Fort Knox." Annabeth smiled, but she was obviously still worried about something. "Well back at my old school I had this boyfriend, Luke, an- "before she could finish her sentence, Piper's bathroom door burst open, revealing Hazel, Reyna, and Rachel. "Are y'all ready to get fricked up tonight?" That was Rachel, vibrant and ready to party as always. I shot Annabeth a look, trying to let her know we could talk later. She nodded and smiled and I looked at Rachel. "Hells to the yes girl."
