CHAPTER THREE
the hard truth.
WHEN THE MAN WAS wounded left her head fast. Who wounded the man was what she couldn't get over. This wasn't the first nightmare she's had where Stefan killed someone. This one was just different, more vivid and present. She woke up the next morning with a large thick white layer of gauze wrapped around most of her arm. She walked up to her mirror and sighed at herself, her mothers words swirling in her head. 'You look like a mess,' she thought to herself.
She looked in her closet and found a shirt and wore a blazer over it, to hide all the wraps. Anna wrapped bandages on her arms late at night when her mother was passed out. She was still sore and probably needed a few stitches, but she could survive a few days without it.
She quickly drove to the address Stefan had given her, it was the only place she thought of being at. Anna was scared she would pass out right there on the road, since she was extremely exhausted. When she finally reached the ginormous mansion—like house, she knocked on the door loudly, well aware of how early it was. A tired Stefan opened the door to see the red head at his doorstep, who had a brave look but had glossy eyes.
"You okay?" Stefan's soothing voice made her look straight up and stare into his green eyes. Shaking her head, she felt the urge to tell him everything about the night before. Once she was inside, she interrupted the small silence between them.
"Did you hear someone scream yesterday? Stefan nodded his head, with a slight hint of confusion in his eyes. Again, Anna was well aware of how random everything sounded.
"That was me." Stefan looked even more confused. He was supposed to be the supernatural expert, but somehow he couldn't identify this one.
Anna looked at Stefan with dread, as she remembered that Stefan killed someone, or might've killed someone, but she trusted her gut. She stepped back a little, making him furrow his eyebrows.
"I— I've been having these nightmares ever since I moved here. And in every one of them, you kill me— or at least someone that looks like me." Stefan's face seemed to have dropped, but Anna was looking at anything but his face.
"But last night, I had a nightmare where you killed someone else. And Elena was there and— and so was some other guy. And this might all just be in my head, but i'm trusting my gut. I think you really killed that guy last night." Stefan was stunned to silence. For about a minute there was pure silence between them, until Stefan decided to respond.
"I didn't kill anyone, Anna I'm seventeen. This was probably just a nightmare." Somehow, this made Anna's blood boil. She grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, making him crouch down to Anna's height, and looked at him straight in the eyes.
