"I love it, definitely. Can you pour me another cup of coffee, Jin?" The young Asian girl is happy to oblige before taking the last croissant of the tray while Kat seems to hesitate between some 'pain au chocolat' and an almond pastry.
"This place's awesome: I thought we'd be basking in the sun, or rather burning in my case, but I didn't expect a colourful blue and white cabana with a complete outdoors living room inside it, a huge TV and a fridge stocked with drinks and snacks." The youngest brat points around with the cookie she's holding in her hand before biting it.
"I know, right? And the wide bed outside overlooking the pool... Can we have a cabana at home, momma?" Kat gives up finally and chooses chocolate, as if there were any doubt about what she was going to pick out.
"Well, I don't know. The back garden is big enough, I think, but we already have an outdoors living room. By the way, I should call Rylee and ask her how the pets are doing." Ruby looks up from her breakfast suddenly and frowns but, before she can even open her mouth to complain, Jin snatches the phone from Iselen's hands.
"I'll call, momma. Stay here and drink your orange juice peacefully." She walks backwards smiling while the brunette woman just shrugs and grabs her glass again. Ruby seems to relax and offers Xander a piece of avocado, Cookie starts giggling and takes her own phone in order to film it while Kat licks her fingers and heaves a satisfied sigh. It's a wonderful morning, they had a delicious breakfast and they have some hours free till Ruby has to check the sound of the club before her gig. "Everything's fine: Aussie is behaving like a good girl, Ares is sleeping, the cats are being a pain in the ass and they tried to put their paws inside Meg's tank but she's still alive and Adele is munching food. Well, you know, no worse than usual."
"Thank you, Jin." The Asian girl sits down again and opens her eyes wide looking at her sisters, Kat straightens her back on her chair and Cookie clears her throat. Despite they thought they were being subtle about it, they didn't imagine that Iselen's mumsy instincts were so sharp. "Drop the bomb..."
"What?" Cookie fails miserably pretending to look innocent.
"Come on, girls. I know you and you're up to no good: I want to know what's happening and how much it's going to cost me." Ruby chuckles behind her cup of coffee and takes a sip while Iselen looks at her out of the corner of her eye trying to find out if she's making fun of her but her girlfriend smiles pretending to look as innocent as Cookie.
"Well, the point is that... Kathassomethingtotellyou!!!" Jin yells the last part almost chocking on her own words.
"Thank you, sister. That was really helpful." The young Moroccan clears her throat and stares at Iselen with a straight face. "Momma, I need you to invest in my new business."
"Aham... and why should I do that?" She leans back on her chair ready to be horrified at whatever crazy idea her kids come up with.
"Because it's a good business. Listen, I want to create my own line of makeup products." Iselen stares at her frowning.
"Do you want to open a beauty salon?"
"No, momma. I want to sell my new makeup palettes to beauty salons around the world. The plan is this: each palette will have four colours of eye shadows, lipsticks and nail polish inspired by your books." The brunette is still frowning confused but even Ruby is paying attention to Kat's words now. "For example, Blood Oath palette will be based in dark red shades, obviously... One Shot palette will be vivid green... because Adele's hair. Evil Queen will be icy blue and The Club... latex black... I guess it's a good name. The White Canvas will be pearl powder, which is really good for the skin, unless Ruby tells us that it's not vegan... in that case we'll resort to the classic rice powder. Wolfdale palette will be in golden shades, The Meg will be aquamarine and Where the Roses Bloom blushy pink; Safe Zone in forest green shades because of military uniforms, Hades will be a silver and grey palette like River Styx... Sorceress... I was thinking about violet since it's the result of mixing the red and blue eyes of the vampire and finally Limelight in earthy colours to honour LA City and the landscape around."
