Somewhere near Melbourne, Australia.
"I fail to see the humour in this situation..." Cookie growls with her arms crossed over her chest, no because she wants to emphasize her displeasure but because she's squeezed between Jin and Kat on the backseat of the car and doesn't have much room of manoeuvre.
"I agree..." Iselen growls in response from the passenger's seat while looking at the landscape through the window. "I spent all my childhood summers in my grandparents' village, I already know how a farm works... We had chickens and rabbits..."
"And I live in a rural area of England and had sheep," the young girl states proudly. "Also, the weather isn't nice today and I don't feel like stepping over mud and puddles with my brand-new sneakers."
"Stop it you both!" Cookie and her momma jump slightly on their seats when hearing Ruby's annoyed tone of voice; she's not frowning at them... not yet, but they both know she'll do it if necessary and they don't want to piss her off till that point. "I don't want to hear another word. I know this wasn't part of the holiday plans but the editor of a magazine payed for this weekend as a present after I collaborated months ago with a charity event he promoted." The tattooed actress shrugs and slows down a little before turning right following the GPS instructions. "He was so excited about it that I couldn't say no. It's an organic farm, everything grows naturally without pesticides, and he thought it was the perfect place for a vegan because I'd particularly appreciate being in touch with nature."
"But according to this brochure they have animals too: cows, chickens, ducks, pigs... I imagine they don't grow them till they die of old age." Jin mumbles shaking the piece of paper and Kat snorts.
"I know but some people hear 'organic' and they immediately associate it with a healthy way of life... I guess he's not fully aware of what being vegan involves... but I don't care. I've done my own investigation and the place is beautiful, landscape is breathtaking since the farm is surrounded by green hills and forests, we're going to sleep in a cute two-storey wooden cabin and learn how the greenhouses work and which veggies are in season, we're going to collect some of them and cook our own food..." Iselen and Kat pretend to cough discreetly. "Okay... you will cook..." Ruby rolls her eyes. "Come on, girls, give it an opportunity... It won't be that bad, I promise."
"I'm not complaining," the Moroccan girl smiles happily in fact. "Look at all those green fields and trees, there's nothing like that in my country and I love it. Also, we won't eat poor animals but it doesn't mean we can't pet them and hug them..." Their momma chuckles amused before looking back over her shoulder at them.
"Stick to rabbits, Kat. Chickens will peck at you, if you manage to catch one, and cows are too big to hug, they stink... and also they will pee on your cute boots."
"Momma!" They all yell grimacing.
"What? It's true... they splash all over..."
"Momma!!!"
"Okay... Don't listen to me if you don't want but you should know that I'm from the north of Spain... which means my knowledge about cows is very vast."
"You're the Cow Whisperer..." Ruby chuckles while driving through the gates of what seems to be a huge property, a big area of land covered with greenhouses, trees, dirt paths and several buildings in the distance.
"I really am, we even organize beauty contests for cows. They're washed, brushed, groomed, put some makeup on... it's quite funny actually."
"Makeup for cows???" Kat asks in disbelief and she leans to one side trying to look at the woman, squeezing Cookie against Jin involuntarily till they both growl.
