"Mom, you asked me to come home straight after school." Adira mentioned as soon she had entered her mother's study and had greeted her.
Returning the white and blue intricate teacup onto it's saucer, Charisse looked at her daughter. "Indeed, I did. The Hunter Exam application form was handed out in class, right?"
The girl with dark blonde hair nodded her head, answering. "Yes."
"Addie, I have decided that you will take a leave from school and participate in the Hunter Exam of the outside. I have gotten the Emperor's approval for so." The blonde mother informed.
"Yes!" She jumped, excitedly pumping her fists in the air.
"But." A smirk made way onto the beautiful woman's face.
That smirk caused a shiver to sprint down Adira's spine. When ever her mother smirked nothing good ever happened "B-but?" She repeated, stuttering a bit.
"You will have to wear this bracelet that will seal your nen and restrict you from talking about it. Of course it won't always at times seal your nen and will not allow you converse about it. I will decide when it's such times." Charisse Drake elegantly took a sip of her tea.
"W-w-hat?" Adira questioned.
Indeed, she had desired to see how the places outside of Amell Kingdom were. She had dreamed about it many times. But without her nen .... that was even more worse than separating a child or teenager from wifi or internet.
Amellians used appliances that required nen in every day life such as to cook, to drive a car, to fix hair, to use even a cell phone/tablet/computer and many more; basically nen was a replacement for electricity or batteries, a power source.
Even if there would be times her mother would allow her to use nen, wouldn't that still be a little too much?
Charisse sighed, noting Adira's expression. The mother knew what her child was thinking. "You see, this is the problem. Addie, you're too reliant on nen. Without nen boosting your physical strength, you only have the strength of a slightly above average person." She thought, 'From the view of a person of this kingdom, that is.' Then she continued, "This is the reason no matter how hard you train, you cannot learn the azure flames of our family."
There was another reason why Charisse wanted her daughter to grow physically stronger, but she didn't divulge.
Adira tightened her hands in fists at what her mother her said, thinking. 'What mom said is true. I had been training for three months, but there were no signs of my crimson flames, turning azure.' She opened her hand, looking at the palm of it. It was also true that she had never worked on her physical strength and only on her nen. 'So my physical strength is the reason why.' Adira's resolve to grow stronger over-weighed her capability of not being able to utilize nen like she had used to. "Mom, I will wear the bracelet."
"Good." Charisse smirked.
'Another smirk!' Adira exclaimed in her mind.
Standing up, the woman of the Drake family went over to her daughter. "Also, to help increase your physical strength faster, I will place weight marks on your wrists, abdomen and ankles. They would get heavier when I feel like there is a need to do so." Her the fingers of her hand gently slid from her daughter's wrists to abdomen to ankles, leaving a crimson red diamond in place of where she had touched.
Feeling the heavy weight marks on her Adira fell onto the red carpeted floor. Beads of perspiration could be seen her forehead. They wet her curly dark blonde strands causing them to become even curlier. Struggling, she balled her hands in to fists and lifted her body up. The fair skin of her cheeks turned slightly red. Now on all fours, her arms and legs trembled as of she was a newborn calf trying to walk for the first time. After a few minutes, the ten year old girl was finally able to stand shakily on her two feet.
"Don't worry, Addie. The weight marks will disappear when I feel you do not require them anymore. As of today, for the next two weeks until the Hunter Exam, you will heed this training regime." Charisse gave Adira her training schedule and placed the thin black nen sealing bracelet on her right hand. "Of course, you don't have to go to school. I already put in for your leave. You may go to your room now. Remember dinner."
"Yes, mom." Adira wobbled on her feet, making way out of her mother's study.
Next to enter was Marquess Kay Drake, Charisse's father. "I see you have already placed the weight marks and the bracelet on Addie."
"Yes, father." Charisse went over to her shelf, taking out a book.
"It's a pity that Addie couldn't have started her physical training when she five, because of her weak body." It had caused the Marquess' heart ache when he had seen his only grandchild putting in so much effort just to walk. But he knew it was something Adira had to experience to grow stronger, especially with Adira father's side of the family. They didn't allow weak people.
"I don't want Addie to go through such things too, but when it will be her time to go to that place, we won't be able to protect her. For her to survive, she must become even stronger." Charisse opened the thick yellow book on Amell Kingdom's royal family.
Kay nodded. "Oh." He finally recalled, "I didn't come in here to talk with you about Addie. Chari, when are you going to get married and give me another grandchild?"
"Father, we have already conversed about this." Charisse took a seat, flipping the page of her book.
"You could have stayed unmarried and allow Addie to inherit the Marchioness title after you, but at lass you can't. When Addie grows up, she has another title awaiting her. Chari do you want someone out of the Drake's blood to inherit the title Marquess/Marchioness Drake? They surely wouldn't allow that."
"I know, father." Charisse really didn't desire to marry, but she knew she had to, to continue the Drake's bloodline.
"How about Hakan Alver, who's the first ranked general of my Blaze Knights?" Marquess Kay suggested. "He has a good personality and looks. He has even shown some interest in you and dotes on Addie. I know that his feelings are pure."
Charisse sighed. "I know that his feelings are pure as well father, but....."
