Daxton's  POV

"What happened? Do you know him somehow?" Brandon questioned.

"Yes, that asshole tried to get close to Kristen and because of him she had to face a great deal of trauma."

"What exactly happened? Tell me everything." Brandon prodded on.

I hesitated for a second. These guys are not exactly my friends that I know since forever.

"You can trust us. We are all in the same boat and are carrying on the same journey." Said Julian convincing me.

"He" I sighed "came to Kristen's school when we were younger like about 5 years or so and became so-called friends with her and I couldn't catch on about what wad going on and suddenly one day he kidnapped her or to be more precise locked her in a van but she escaped and we were able to let him taste humility and jail food for a while but he did show up again and I was able to save her in the nick of time buy his motives were unclear and I guess now its in the light."

"I think he targeted her for some reason, possibly for blackmail." Jordan said resting his head on his palm.

"He must have thought Kristen to be the weakness of the Reeds as the successors of the family were never really shown to the dark side." Julian stated.

"I have to keep my only family left safe from Blaze. It is possible that Donnagon is still in contact with the outer world." I say getting up to leave.

"Daxton, we shall keep Kristen safe, don't worry. For now, join Zen, we need you and we guessed this much that Robert ( father of Dax and Kristen) must have trained you a bit or more than just a bit."

Yeah. My martial arts will definitely be of help here.

"You sure know your stuff" I scoffed.

"Dude, those fat ass biceps give it all away." Jordan said cracking up.

I smile and extend my hand towards Brandon.

"Honoured to work with you, McKnight."

He ignored my extended hand and pulled me into a hug.

"Welcome, buddy. The Ironman of Zen has finally joined and has taken the throne just like your dad."

Throne? I'm the leader? Dad was the leader???

"We'll share it Brandon."

"GROUP HUG" shouted someone with a high pitch voice. Obviously, it has to be a girl.

I girl with pixie cut hair came running in and beamed when she saw me.

"I see you finally got the big fish in the bag. About damn time" she said smiling at me.

"Daxton meet Katie Campbell. The only female member of Zen and of course our family friend who joined to for the same reason."

"Hi, pal. Katie." She waved her hand with a smile.

"Hey. I'm Daxton Reed." I said back.

"Oh, I know who you are. I'm the information expert and the rad spy of Zen. I've been keeping an eye on you from time to time." she said with a wink.

I guess there are a lot of things that I have to learn and get used to.

Its been a few months that I have joined Zen. The members are cool, efficient and serious.

I haven't told Kristen yet and don't plan to do so in the future. The farther she is the better for her and a relief for me.

I had to leave my part-time job and Kristen doesn't about this but Zen also earns through the small business of ammunition and information. Of Course it's legal.

I even had to leave her alone for weeks, Of Course, it killed me to leave her alone but the situation demanded it.

We have been trying to get evidence and hints to how Donnagon contacts the outer world and chuck's trail is also being hotly watched.

4 years ago my dad found evidence about the human trafficking deals done by BlackThorn and had put him in jail where contact with the outside world was forbidden.

And chuck had already tried to kidnap Kristen again after his release from jail and then the most tragic incident of my life happened. My parents died or killed brutally to be more exact.

The more I think about it, the more my blood boils.

The reasons could be endless. The Blazes' could have done this as a revenge act for Chick being thrown in jail or for the alley scene when he met my fist for a quick celebration or for Donnagon's sentence or even worse all of the above.

Kristen deserves a normal life like anyone else. I know that she isn't having the best teen life and has suffered a lot and doesn't need any more than she already has to face.

It has been decided than Zen wouldn't approach her and wouldn't know any of the members from Zen.

Zen has to under wraps when Kristen is considered.

I taught Kristen some self-defence moves when Chuck was in the radar if anything somehow comes up.

But the thing is, nothing will ever touch her as long as I am breathing.

Things are being proved as difficult because there is no clue to how Black Thorn still works with Donnagon in jail and there was no big movement from Chuck either.

Things don't look well.

We go on frequent missions to collect information on our targets. We have their patrol timings, information on their members, their cars and other vehicles, and Chuck's movement.

But still no bloody clue about what we want. How the heck do the deals go on??

Visitors are not allowed and the prison staff is some specialized elite members. So, for him to have a messenger in prison is difficult.

We left no stone unturned and rechecked everything like frickin' million times but the damn puzzle just doesn't fit together.

Is the plan to avenge my parents and my friend's parents so difficult? Are we going to fail?
Is what we have done till now useless and unfruitful?

Am I really capable of doing this??

Hello everyone, how is it going??

This chapter was really fun for me to write and the part where Dax talks about him teaching Kristen self-defence is soo exciting.

Poor boy doesn't know that our girl is a badass.

Anyways, please let me know what you think and please forgive me for my inconsistent uploads.

Final exams are soon gonna kick in and I don't wanna flunk everything.
