Prologue

Chae-Rin sits at the back of the class, eating her banana for lunch as usual. She watches her ex-boyfriend steps in to talk to her classmate.

People around stares at Chae-Rin, knowing that they both dated for awhile. They were sweet.

Nobody knows what happen to them but it made Chae-Rin lock herself in her room for 3 days, crying.

Baek Chae-Rin runs out of the school gate, pushing past everyone to get to her workplace in time.

She arrives sweating profusely, "you're here!" The manager of the cafe looks at her employee. "I have something to tell you, let's take a seat." Chae-Rin nods and follow her manager out to the front of the restaurant.

Chae-Rin has been working at this small cupcake cafe for 8 months, she loves to work here. The customers are friendly and she learnt how to bake.

"This is this month's salary." The manager passes her the envelope, Chae-Rin bows and politely accepts. "I have to let you go."

She holds the envelope in the air, frozen. "Why?"

"The shop is closing down, I can't afford it anymore." The manager simply answers, Chae-Rin knows this shop is like her baby. She could tell the pain in the manager's eyes.

"I hope to see you around, you're a great worker, Chae-Rin ah." The manager smiles at her, "thank you." Chae-Rin takes a look around the cafe and sigh.

Chae-Rin makes her way back home, stopping by her parent's restaurant as she did. Her parent's own a fried chicken restaurant. Its often filled with people at night.

"Eomma, Appa." She greeted her parents who are sitting behind the counter. "Oh, I thought you had work." Her father looks up from his phone, "I will find a new job." Chae-Rin sighs and sits down next to her mother.

"I will be home late today, don't wait up." Chae-Rin informs her father. "Don't come home drunk." Her mother warns her, giving her a glare.

"Yes Eomma."

This is Baek Chae-Rin's life. Everything always seems to fall apart all at once.
