Baek Family 👨‍👩‍👧

chae-rin, precious daughter: i got a job at a bookstore!! \^O^/

abeoji 🦹🏻‍♂️ : good for u...

eomma 🦹🏻‍♀️ : did u eat the breakfast ?

"It's here!" Hye-Yeon runs to the door when our chicken delivery arrives.

I throw my phone onto the couch and went into the kitchen to get cups for our drinks.

"It smells so good." Hye-Yeon giggles and put the plastic bag down on the coffee table.

She ties her bright red hair into a messy bun. She should get an award for dying her hair so much. For the past 5 years I knew her, she had at least dyed her hair 20 times.

Like girls that we are, we talked about clothes that are on sale and boys.

"I don't have anybody, just focusing on basketball right now." I say, thinking about Min-Seok.

I look at Hye-Yeon and thought about Chan-Yeol. "It's good for you, Chan-Yeol was mean to you." Hye-Yeon frowns at the thought of him.

"I am glad he's out of your life."

"Same."

We both went to school the next morning feeling tired. We spent the night talking and gossiping.

But I can't take my mind off Min-Seok. Shall I text him?

It must be a mistake..

I already saved his number though.

"What are you thinking about?" Ji-Hyo, one of my closest friends, sits in front of use.

"You." I cheekily answered, "ehhh~" Ji-Hyo smiles. "Do you know if Hye-Yeon is coming to practice?" Ji-Hyo then ask.

Ji-Hyo and Hye-Yeon are both soccer players, the three of us often go to each other's matches.

"I don't know, but she did bring her cleats." I replied and pick up my phone.

chae-rin : annyeonghaseyo|

My finger hover over the send button, why am I greeting him like this?

chae-rin : annyeong :-)|

Was that flirty?

Ah... Forget it. I delete the text and put my phone down, "you look stress." Ji-Hyo noticed. She then look down at her watch, "I will text you." She held my hand and left the lecture room.

I sigh and watch her two braided pigtails swing from left to right as she walks out. A familiar face walks in, his black hair is in a good hot mess as usual.

I watch Chan-Yeol sit beside his new girl.

I don't understand what do the girl have that I don't? My hair is prettier... I do not have perfect eyesight like she does but still... What do I lack of?

I went back home after my shift at the bookstore, I blast Sechskies couple in my earphones. I open the door and I was pushed in.

My earphones fall out of my ears, "yah." I see Chan-Yeol's face in the street light.

"Didn't I warned you just yesterday?"

"What are you talking about?" I get up from the floor, Chan-Yeol pushes me again and I hit the floor again.

"Ah." I winced in pain, "you can't go around calling me a cheater and someone who sexually assaulted you—" He took in a deep breath, "when I didn't do anything like that."

"But you did." I look up at him, "what?" Chan-Yeol laughs.

"Chae-Rin ah, you can't go around saying this." He bends down and look at me in the eyes. "Do you know who I am? Don't be surprise at school tomorrow."

The lights in the living room were turned on. Min-Seok stands at the door, he looks confused.

"You got lucky." Chan-Yeol got up and left.

Yes, I got lucky. Chan-Yeol pushes Min-Seok in the shoulder as he walks out.

"What... Happened?" Min-Seok takes a few steps towards me. I can't believe he's seeing me in this state, how pathetic.

"C'mon, get up." Min-Seok grabs my hands and pull me slowly. "Are you hungry? I got you food. You should wash up first, you look... Messy but you're still pretty."

I like how he doesn't prompt more, "why are you here..?" I ask.

He scratch the back of his head awkwardly, "you didn't text me."

Oh.

"Wash up." Min-Seok says and turns his back to me. "Make yourself at home." I say as I went to lock the front door.

I got changed into sweats and a tee shirt.

"I hope you don't find me weird, appearing on the doorstep like that." Min-Seok says, taking out the food that he bought.

I am glad that he came, no matter how weird it is. I think I will be dead if he isn't here.

"I bought food for your parents too but I guess they aren't home." Min-Seok takes out fried chicken. "Looks like we have to eat it all." I sigh, "yah." Min-Seok shot a glare at me.

"Thank you for the food." I bow to him.

Min-Seok stays late into the night, he hangs out comfortably with his hair down and his mask placed on the table.

We spent the night learning more about each other, both of our favourite colours are blue. He also got my phone number now, he wants to go out and eat sometime...

He steps into my room and immediately noticed the Sechskies posters and photos on the wall beside the door.

I quickly grab the sticky note that he gave me the first time we met and put it in a book.

I keep it because it's cute that he complimented me.

"You should sleep soon, you have school tomorrow." Min-Seok suggested, I sit on my bed, "do you want to sleepover?" I blurted out.

I put my hand to my chest, "I mean—"

"Tell me straight to my face that you want me around." He pinches my cheeks, teasing me.

I can feel my heart racing, "ani... It's late." I point to my small clock.

But I do want him to stay, it feels safer and I have company in this lonely home.

I prepare a bed for him as he washes up. He comes out wearing my oversized clothing.

Min-Seok switches off the lights and got into the bed.

"Xiumin ssi—"

"Please call me Oppa." Min-Seok sighs.

"I don't want to." I refused.

"Why?" He sits up, frustrated.

I chuckled lightly, cute.

"Can you wait till I fall asleep?" I turn my body to face him. Without any hesitation, "okay, sleep well."
