"Is he okay?"
"Calm down, Frost! We don't want them to hear us!"
Rascal groaned. He opened his eyes to a blurry world. He made out two shapes in front of him. A sharp pain stabbed his head.
Ow! What the...?
Rascal forced himself to sit up. He blinked several times to steady his vision. Everything hurt. His paws, muscles, head— you name it.
A light gray form came in his vision. It took him a moment to realize it was Moon. Her yellow eyes were shadowed with worry.
"Rascal! Thank the heavens you're alive!" She embraced him swiftly. He returned it as Frost came in for a hug.
Rascal finally noticed his surroundings. They were in a..... wooden cave? It was stacked like a fort, and it's lousy roofing obviously leaked. The floor was wet and slick. Their paws were sore and numb from it.
"Where are we?" He asked with a raspy voice.
Frost looked over her shoulder. "Red Fang Pack's camp." She turned back. "They've captured us for 'hunting on their land'." She mimicked Hawkeye's voice.
Moon peered out from the cracks in the walls. "There's a wolf guarding the exit. We can't leave." She muttered.
Rascal winced when one of his scrapes rubbed painfully against the wood. He glanced down at it and made a face.
It was oozing blood and looked infected. Red, raw marks trailed through his fur. The flesh was raw and sore, scoring down his right leg. He gagged at the sight of it.
"Ouch," Frost peered at the wound. "They could at least treat our wounds." She snorted with a roll of her eyes.
Rascal sighed while looking out in the clearing. He saw how it was spread with leaves from trees that didn't die in the Winter. There weren't many dens, but they were big like they could hold tons of grown wolves.
He grazed every inch of the scenery. He hoped they could somehow find a way to sneak out. And make it back to Flame Woods Pack.
"I hope Alusia made it back safely. Help is surely on the way." Moon's voice was forced with optimism.
"Oh yeah. I'd forgotten that she'd escaped." Rascal commented.
Frost nodded. "I'm glad. Otherwise, the Pack may have thought we were dead."
Rascal bit his lip and let his mind wander. I hope Misty isn't too worried. He knew how stressed out his mate had been ever since her mother had returned. She was edgier, emotional, and basically a different wolf.
I must be by her side through these trying times.
Moon gasped, causing Frost and Rascal to turn their heads her way.
The light gray she-wolf backed away from the wall closest to the clearing and shrunk against the far wall.
"Someone's coming!"
Rascal and Frost moved in beside her. Paw steps thudded against the frozen ground and grew closer with every breath.
Two wolves stepped into the den. One was a muddled brown and black male. The other a black male with sharp blue eyes.
