A/N: Instead of Archie's dad getting shot a Pops its Veronica.

For all of the Riverdale High students, this day could be considered the best. Friday, no more school for the rest of the weekend. Students cheered as they exited, and of course walking as a group, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Archie. Once they made it out of the entrance, Veronica stopped walking, causing the others to look back in confusion.

"What's up Ronnie?" Archie asked seeming worried. A smile lifted from the corners of her lips, "I have a great idea." The group looked at her confused. "Seriously? Guys its Friday! Let's go to Pops." she almost shouted."Sorry V, me and Jughead have to check up on some things but, maybe next week?" Betty spoke up, glancing towards Jughead.

"About that, we should probably get going." Jughead lightly lifted Betty's hand into his, this action causing her to smile. "Alright bye, guys!" Betty shouted while her and Jughead started to walk away. Veronica signed in defeat, "Well Archiekins, looks like its just you and me." She chuckled, "Still up for a burger with yours truly."

He smiled at her, "I'll take you up on that offer." She smiled, he walked back to her and lightly grabbed her hand. "To Pops!" Veronica said, swinging her and Archie's hand forward.

The signature bell rang as Archie and Veronica walked into the small diner, gaining them a wave from Pops himself. "Hey, can you grab us a booth? I need to wash up." Veronica asked, "Sure." Archie spoke, giving her a light kiss on the cheek. He let a smile peek out from the corners of his lips, "Don't take to long." He said, smiling at her as she disappeared into the bathroom.

Veronica made her way into the bathroom, washing up just like she told Archie. While washing her hands she looked into the mirror, "How did I get so lucky?" She whispered to herself, slightly giggling at the thought of her and Archie. After washing her hands she made her way to the paper towels, that's when she heard some type of commotion outside. Veronica, being the curious young lady she came out of the bathroom to see the problem.

And that's when all time stopped for her while peeking out of the door, she spotted her worst nightmare. The black hood, Veronica and her friends were all terrified by this man, but she never expected to see him. The man in a black hood stood on top of the diner countertop, holding Pops by his collar, yelling "You son of a bitch! where is the money!" While holding a gun to Pops head. That's when Veronica remembered that she wasn't alone, stepping out of the bathroom, still trying to conceal herself from the robber, she peeked out from the corner. Seeing Archie sitting at a booth watching the events happening, their eyes met from across the diner.

Archie shook his head slowly as if he was warning her to stay back. But, Veronica wouldn't let him face this alone. Archie started to stand up from the booth, holding his hands up to show he wasn't a threat. He started to walk towards the man in black, this time Veronica was the one nodding her head. He mouthed something from across the room, but she didn't know what he was trying to say. When Archie stood about fifteen feet away from the man, he noticed. The black hood harshly threw Pops out if his tight grip and pointed the gun at Archie.

"What the fuck are you looking at!" The man said.

"Look put the gun down, nobody has to get hurt," Archie said, lifting his hands in an innocent manner. He was frightened but he wouldn't let the man know that. Archie would do the stupidest things, even things that could get him killed.

Veronica saw as he started to lift the gun towards Archie, some would say she wasn't thinking straight, but Veronica liked to think she did it out of pure love. She quickly ran in front of Archie, he had no time to react.

"Veronica!" He shouted, reaching out to her.

*BANG*

Veronica looked down, holding her hands to her stomach, her eyes watering. When she lifted her hands a warm, red substance appeared, blood. Archie saw as she started to fall, and caught her. His eyes couldn't be wider, as her small head was perched upon his legs. Archie's eyes started to water but that was the least of his worries. He lifted his head to see if the gunman was still there, but he was gone, disappeared into the daylight.

Veronica coughed, knocking Archie out of his trance. He stared down at her, "This is a dream... Wake up, Archie! Wake up!" He said trying to convince himself. Veronica lifted her head, and opened her eyes, "I love you." She said breathlessly. "You're going to be fine, I just need to call the hospital." But the way Archie spoke, you could hear he was trying to convince himself rather than Veronica.

"Oh, Archie." Veronica breathed out, as if it hurt to speak, "I wasn't lying when I said I'd die for you." Her noticeably limp body was getting paler and colder as the seconds passed. As more blood flowed from her wound, "There's one last thing Archie." her eyes were getting drowsy with every word. "Veronica, It- sorry- I love you." He didn't know what to say. Archie suspected this was just a terribly realistic dream.

"Kiss me." She said trying to smile and with every ounce of strength, she lifted her arm to hold Archie's face. And they kissed, and as Veronica parted, her hand dropped limply to the floor. And Archie knew this was a reality, Her eyes closed, taking in one last breath. And as her last words spilled out, "Thank you." her body went limp, her stomach stopped moving to the rhythms of breathing.

"I love you! I love you!" He yelped, holding her loose body in his lap.

Tears streaming down his face, "I can't go on without you." He whispered, "I need you."
