Amanda's POV
Oh great today is volleyball tryouts. I can't wait to get impaled by balls today! Note the sarcasm... Anyway better get up before someone has a fit again.
As if on cue my mom walks into my room slamming the door open just like always. I wish this wasn't like this.
"Amanda! Get up its time for sch- oh you're awake already? That's a first."
"Really mom... "
"Yes 'really' I thought you were asleep still."
"Ok well I need to get ready so can you get out of my room."
"Sure sweety!" (I cringed writing that I'm sorry...)
As she left I put on a yellow volleyball shirt with some black leggings. Ah-my stupid ears keep popping out. I HAVE to hide them somehow. Think.....how to hide ears.........hmm..........I got it I'll just put on my hat and hope I'll work.
Well I'm finally ready to go to school. My mom says good luck and to try my hardest and that I should make the team like last year even though I didn't get to play. Whatever....
~Time skip to end of the day~
Great it's tryout time and I can't wait. Note the sarcasm again. I'm walking to the gym and head into the locker room. As I open the door I hit someone by accident. Whoops....
"Hey is that Amanda?"
"Yea hi Tina."
Damn she remembers me...? I thought no one was gonna say anything to me.
"I like you're adidas shirt!"
"Thanks Jasmine."
"Yea she's rocking the adidas shoes too!"
"Thanks Lily!"
Wow the 8th graders are all being really nice to me. I really didn't expect that.
"Ok everyone listen up. You guys need to set up the nets and then start stretching."
Oh great we have a new coach. Hopefully she'll be better than the last one.
After we finish setting up the nets and strech, which didn't take that long, we stand on the line and wait for coach D to tell us what to do next.
Coach said we had to serve first. I'm not bad at setting but I can't overhand serve. I can only do it underhand.
So the 8th graders go first and we had to get their balls when they were done. And the was a little annoying 6th grader who was getting on my nerves.
"Hey you can you catch the ball?"
Hey you was what she kept saying to me until Tina and Jasmine were done serving came over.
"Ya know she has a name," Said Tina.
"Yea it's Amanda, and don't forget it!" Said Jasmine.
The 6th grader just stood there in shock and didn't say anything after that.
"Thanks guys!"
"No problem" They say in unison.
That gave me the biggest confidence boost ever. I'm lucky to have friends like them.
After almost everyone served it was my turn. I got 5 shots and that's it. The first one I made it over! Yes!!! 2nd yes!!! 3rd!!!
4th shit I didn't make it. 5th I made it!!!Ok so 4/5 is good. It could've been 5/5 but hey! I did good
We went right to bumping, which I'm good at, then setting. I could've been better at that too but still. Then we spiked which I can't do at all but I had confidence thanks to Tina and Jasmine wishing me good luck!
After all that I was tired, sore, and just plain hurting. It was finally time to go home but we have to dog this 2 more time this week. And the 3rd day the 8th graders won't be here so there goes all my confidence boosters.
I just have to believe in myself. But that has been harder to do. And will be even harder after what will happen tomorrow.......
