"Squip?" I quickly turn around to see a slightly pissed Jeremy. "Oh! Jeremy, I-" I'm quickly cut off by Jeremy. "Michael! You know what that computer did to me, but yet you got one?! How long!" He yells.
"What do you mean-"
"Don't play dumb, man! How long have you had it!"
"A few days.." I mutter.
I feel a slap against my arm. "Ow! Dude!" I yelp. "Shut it down!" Jeremy growls.
"No!" I say, determined.
"Why not?!" Jeremy counters back.
"Because! Because!-" I feel tears gather in my eyes as I grow frustrated.
"Because, why!" Jeremy stares into my watery eyes.
"Because I Love you, Jeremiah!" I quickly burst out of the car, slamming the door, and running into the wooded area by the road. "Michael!" I hear him call after me, but I don't stop running.
I've been running for about 30 minutes now, I can't stop. I hear Jeremy's faded steps as he chases after me. I continue to run along, jumping over logs and roots, until I reach a lake. There's no way around it, it's too wide, I need to get away now. I dive into the water. It's freezing. I try to swim out, but I can't move. I start to shiver and shake wildly. "Michael!" Jeremy gasps as he sees me, quickly diving in after.
I feel an arm wrap around my waist and I am slowly pulled out. He plops down in the dirt by the lake, and I quickly push onto him, freezing. He holds me tightly against him. I can feel each fast breath. "Dude, don't ever do that! You know I can't run!" Jeremy says, trying to make me laugh. I only sniffle in return. He squeezes me lightly, "Michael, how long?"
"How long what.." I say.
"How long have you loved me?" He replies.
"Since elementary school.." I mumble.
"So basically since forever?"
I nod. "Why didn't you tell me?" Jeremy whispers.
"Because! You aren't gay! Or bi! Or even pan! You're straight!" Hearing the words out loud made me break out in tears. I hugged myself tightly.
Jeremy slowly kissed my head, halting my cries. "J-Jeremy.. why?" I whisper. Jeremy gives a small sigh. "Earlier, when I was with you, I felt something. Something right, but I started becoming stressed about what was happening."
I stared up at him, remembering how he said Jeremy was acting out of his stress. "Jeremy.."
"Yes?"
"What does this mean?"
