One Text Can Ruin Your Whole Life

Emily POV

While I was making a big breakfast, Ali came up behind me with Maddie in her arms. Someone put their hands over my eyes and said "Guess who!" I put my hands over the hands on my eyes thinking they were Maddie's but they were smaller than mine but definitely larger than Maddie's. "Ali!" I yell pulling her hands away from mine. She looks at me and does her signature giggle. I like seeing Ali be Ali and not 'The Alison DiLaurentis'. I laugh and turn back around to finish the pancakes. "What are we having for breakfast?" Maddie says. "Chocolate chip pancakes, Eggs, Toast, Strawberries, and Bacon." I reply with a smirk. I get a text on the burner phone Ali got me and looked at it. I burst into tears when I saw that it was from an Unknown Number. I didn't read it because I was still in shock. Ali saw me crying and came over and have me a giant hug. I gave her the phone and she read the text, whispering it in my ear as she goes. It says, I know where you are Emily and the longer you stay with her, the more friends you will lose. Think fast. -A

I started crying harder as Ali walked me up the stairs and to the bedroom. Ali told Maddie to stay downstairs with Terrance and eat while we talk. I know where this is going, and I don't want to make a decision right now. We walk into the bedroom and sit on the bed. Ali takes my hands in hers and looks at me. My eyes meet hers for a split second until I look away. "I know you think you are about to make a decision but I am not giving you a choice. You have to go back to Rosewood and protect our friends. I will have PI's around you all, protecting you from A. I am going to get you another burner phone that only has my new number on it. Don't let anyone know about this phone or see you on it. I will let you know everything that happens out here. I will call you once every day. Your cover story for being here for 2 days is you needed some time away from Rosewood so you went to the beach alone. Nobody can know where I am or about Madeline and I. I'm taking you shopping so you can pretend you bought stuff at the beach. Play it off as well as you can. If somebody finds out or questions, deny, deny, deny, okay?" Ali says really really fast. I look her in the eyes and nod my head. "I'm only doing this to keep you both safe." I say. She gets up and gets dressed. I turn her around and kiss her passionately, knowing it could be the last time I see her.
