"All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves. You don't know half of the abuse."
~Heathens by Twenty Øne PilotsOf course I thought, they're staring at them. I sat at the table in the cafeteria as I watched the Copper Wolves stare at Holly and Maya. I also noticed that they were ignoring the Copper Wolves. Because, it's kind of obvious they're staring at them.
"So what do you think? Ruby?" I heard Angelina say to me.
"Oh, what did you say? Sorry," I apologized. She shook her head, "I asked what you think about Autumns band. The Fallen Angels?"
"Oh, I haven't heard them play, or sing. So I don't know."
"Hm, okay then. Bronwyn?" Angelina asked her.
"Hm?" Bronwyn looked up from her macaroni.
"Ugh, am I reall—"
"Hello, kids," I looked at the end of the table and I saw Autumn standing there with two hands on the table.
Ugh.
"I just wanted to let you know, you're invited over for a little thing I'm doing at my house tomorrow night," Autumn said and slid some invitations over to us.
"Um, okay. Thanks?" I said uncertainly. Autumn smiled at me and then trotted over to her table.
"That was unexpected," Angelina remarked.
"Very," I agreed. At the last class of the day, English, I sat beside Rayna.
"So, how're you doing?" I asked her when we were working on a essay.
"Eh, I'm dealing. You?" Rayna asked as she kept typing.
"I'm doing fair. Have you seen much of Maya and Holly lately?" I asked her.
"No, why?"
"Just wondering," I looked back at my essay. I worked for a couple more minutes, then I checked the time, it was almost three o'clock. I decided to pack it up there. I picked up my laptop and moved to put it over on the laptop rack at the back of the class. I turned around and saw Autumn standing behind me.
"We need to talk," I said to her. She looked surprised for a moment.
"Um, okay?" She said confused.
I walked back over to my desk and stood beside my bag. I have absolutely no idea why I did that. But I guess she can help me.
Outside of the class Autumn walked over to me and leaned against the lockers. "Okay, what do you want?" She asked me.
"You know how you think Holly was the killer of Alexia?" I asked her, and hoped I was saying this correctly.
"Yes," Autumn suddenly looked interested.
"Well, I was taking a walk to Starbucks and I heard Maya and Holly talking in a alleyway. They were talking about how they hoped that she didn't die because of something. That she fulfilled a "deal" or something," I explained.
Autumn gave me a concerned look, "okay," she said and kind of reminded me of the old Autumn I used to know, "I want to help. But I also need something in return for helping." Ugh.
"Okay. What's the deal?"
"That you join the Fallen Angels, of course," Autumn said and smiled.I walked home beside Autumn. I did notice a couple people staring at this odd pairing. And of course, I did get some dirty and disgusted looks coming my way. Oh, and Magnus looked angry.
We walked towards Autumn's house, because we were going to do some research there.
While we were walking, I saw Maya walking with Holly towards Maya's house. Autumn pulled me behind a bush.
"Okay, I'll be going to ask them a couple of questions. Okay?" Autumn asked me.
"Uh, okay. Sure," I said.
"Okay, good. Wait here." Autumn left from behind the bush and walked over to them. I watched the facial expressions of everyone as the conversation went on.
I caught Holly giving some "why am I here looks" to the ground. And I saw Maya look like "ugh, why this bitch". Autumn just looked like "everyone bow down to me, bitches".
Eventually, Holly dragged Maya away and Autumn walked back over to me.
"They didn't say anything," she said plainly. "They were just listening to my questions and saying random stuff."
"Hmph."
"Yeah. You know, this is kind of odd. Why did you ask for my help out of all people?" Autumn asked me curiously.
"Because nobody else would've listened," I said and realized it was true.
"Well, I better head home. See you tomorrow?" Autumn asked. I nodded, she smiled. Then she walked away and all of a sudden it started raining.I walked to school the next day. It's a Friday, almost the end of the first week of school.
I looked a couple of blocks ahead and saw Julia and Magnus walking together. Magnus with his arm around Julia. I was holding a piece of paper, I nearly ripped it with disgust.
I got to school and Rayna, Emily, and Bronwyn came up to me immediately.
"Why were you walking with Autumn?" Bronwyn asked me suspiciously. "We never walk with that traitor."
"Yeah, why? Oh my gawd, are you doing a Victoria on us?" I saw Angelina just showed up. I looked at her, "no, geez. I just needed to ask her a question about Julia Naran. The new girl," I knew it was bad lie but it's the only think I could do at the moment.
"Wow, of course. We don't need another person leaving us," Angelina said.
"Okay, I'm not doing what Victoria did—"
"What about Autumn? She also left," Emily said.
"Yeah, and Autumn... I'm sorry."
"It's fine, bro. It's only one time," Emily said.
Yeah, only one time...
