"He did the mash, he did the monster mash, the monster mash, it was a graveyard smash. He did the mash, it caught on in a flash. He did the mash, he did the monster mash."
~Monster Mash by Bobby PickettIn two days, it's the Halloween dance. In the meantime, Autumn's hosting a Halloween party for her friends. Which includes all of my group.
It was quite chill theses past couple days, I've decided that the "werewolf incident" was only a dream, except I did catch Holly looking at me in a weird way sometimes. Maybe that's because of the Fallen Angels performing on October thirtieth.
The main planners for the dance are Autumn and Magnus. Although, I am helping a lot.
I walked into the gym and saw Magnus trying to put a banner up over the gym that said in big letters: HAPPY HALLOWEEN. He was standing on a ladder with a friend of his holding the ladder (probably his friend Knuckles).
"Hey, Ruby!" I looked over to the right and saw Autumn setting up some tables for food. "Are you coming to help?"
"Yeah," I said and set down my bags beside Autumn's near the door.
I walked over to the table and helped her move it to the other side of the gym.
"What music are we going to be playing? Other than our music, of course," I asked.
"In the parts when we aren't singing? Monster Mash, and stuff like that," Autumn replied, then we started walking over to where Magnus and Knuckles were.
"You need help, Magnus?" Autumn asked him.
Magnus stretched to reach one part of the banner onto a nail in the wall, "nah, I'm good. Thanks though."
Autumn looked me and gave me a 'yeah, okay, sure' look.
I didn't know what she meant by that. After about an hour, I get a text message from Bronwyn: I'm over at Holly's house, want to come?
I thought about it for a moment, why though? Was my first thought. But then I realized that I didn't really have to do anything for the rest of the day.
"Hey, Ruby!" I heard Autumn call from the other side of the gym, "we're done setting up, we're going to leave."
I looked over at where Magnus and Knuckles were laughing and Autumn was holding her bag, "okay, I'll be leaving too."I was halfway to Holly's house when I got another message from Bronwyn: are you coming?
And I remembered I didn't reply to the first one. Yes I typed into the message bar, and then I sent it. Bronwyn replies almost immediately, ok.
I walked into Holly's driveway and saw that it was absolutely nothing like Magnus' house. I can't believe I only noticed this now.
I looked at a window and I saw Holly and Bronwyn looking out of it and waving for me to come in.I walked into the house and saw they were downstairs already, "finally," Holly said. "Come on, come on."
I had no idea what was going on. I followed them up the stairs into Holly's room, where a laptop and a piece of paper were lying on her bed.
I turned around and saw Holly shut the door and lock it behind her. "We were searching up a bunch of stuff and we found a bunch of news articles of stuff like this happening to people fifty years ago," Holly started to explain.
"Yes," Bronwyn added, "and we found that the person who killed them was nicknamed the 'Easthaven Butcher'."
"Hm."
"Yes," Holly said, "and apparently the person who murdered them was hung by a bunch of Copper Wolves. But I doubt that, because I asked some of the older Wolves and they said that nothing like that ever happened."
"So we think that they're the one who had the blood on the gun in your closet, Ruby—"
"But that was fifty years ago," I interrupted.
"Maybe someone related then?" Holly said, "I don't know. But Bronwyn and I did this research all day, don't make it go to waste."I stayed at the house for a while, then it ended up being around eleven at night.
"I think I should go," I said to them. "Are you sleeping over?" I asked Bronwyn.
"Nope," She said, "I'm going to leave soon, too."
"I'm inviting Maya over, we need to do some Copper Wolf stuff," Holly said simply.
"Ah, of course. I don't want to get involved with that," I replied.
"Of course."
Bronwyn and I left. We walked down the street talking about normal stuff for a change. No one really had time to talk about that.
"—Holly insisted we listen to the Guardians of the Galaxy theme when I came over. Thank god her Bose died," Bronwyn told me.
"Haha."When we reached Bronwyn's house, I stayed outside just in case her father was asleep and she had to sleep over at my house.
Funnily enough, that happened.
We walked over to my house and it was already nearly midnight when we reached it.
But we ended up staying up until four in the morning so that didn't really matter.
We watched three movies; High School Musical, Love Simon, and Shrek. And we ate popcorn.
But the fun didn't last long.
At four in the morning, I got a text from Holly: are you still awake?
And then another one: something happened.
Bronwyn asked me, "what's wrong?"
"Holly texted me."
Bronwyn went back to her popcorn.
I replied: ye, why?
Maya and I found something in the woods behind Alexia's house, Holly wrote.
And that is...?
We found a huge pile of drugs, we need to report this to Sheriff Ashford.
