You and your friends were the weirdos of the school, the people the others didn't really care about. But well, to be fair, neither did you care about all the drama going on everywhere. It was always like you had your own small special bubble. You had yourselves and your small bubble and were the happiest just living your lives peacefully. Your friends and you were all kind of weird in your own ways, but still you worked perfectly together. You were weirdos who have found each other and became family. You loved your friends very much, they were the only ones who you felt comfortable with to be yourself, the only ones you let in to see behind your walls.

Lucas was the popular kid, loved by everyone and loving everyone. He was nice to all of the students and talked with all of them, making friends everywhere. There was no such thing as social groups for him. He could belong everywhere, even in your weird group. Occasionally he would come sit with you guys and talk and joke around. He was so interested in people of all kind, it was so pure. Popularity and such was rather unimportant for him, he just wanted to be happy and interact with people, never judging anyone for anything.

Since the day you first met him, he intrigued you. His handsome face with his beautiful bright smile and his deep ass voice combined with his tall figure made him very pleasant to look at and listen to. That was what pulled your attention towards him. What intrigued you was his outgoing, happy and confident personality. His personality was everything you ever wished to be. It amazed you how he could be so self-assured and make friends this easily. Sometimes you thought how amazing it would be if you could just have a small part of his confidence.

And well, with time you started developing a crush on this pure-hearted boy. You hated it, though, developing crushes. You hated it, because you always knew it would end unhappily. You knew your shy and awkward self would never take action yourself and you definitely knew your crush would never feel the same way.

Therefore when you have a crush on someone you tend to act cold and be very stiff, convincing yourself that you do not like them. And as time passes and the small chance of getting together sinks even more, the crush slowly dies down.

Lucas, however, started to get feelings himself. You were different. Nothing like all the other people. So he started to get interested. He wanted to get to know the side of you that you only showed to the people close to you. Every time he saw you being totally different and comfortable when you were only with your friends and then totally change again when there were other people you didn't know so well, made him even more curious and intent on getting to know that side of you that was only meant for a few chosen ones to see. He wanted to get you to open up to him.

And with time he thought that you did slowly open up to him. Everyday he came to school he was curious what new thing he would find out about you today. But then you suddenly started distancing yourself again. It was almost like he could see your protective walls being rebuilt between you two. It hurt him so much and he didn't even know why. He thought you finally warmed up to him but apparently not.
