Not So Happily Ever After (A Niall Horan Fanfic)

Chapter 16

We drove around a while just talking. I had no idea where we were going and neither did Niall but at least we were getting along.

"I'm Hungry, Ni." I said.

"Okay we'll stop somewhere to eat. Do you know any good places around here?" he said.

"No. Where are we anyway?"

"Ummm..." He said searching around for a sign saying the closest town. "In a car."

I laughed. "Whatever, as long as we find food."

"How about there?" He said pointing out the window to a small, old resaurant.

"Sure I guess." I said as it started pouring.

We turned off of the highway onto the other road and pulled into the parking lot. 

"Do you have an umbrella? Or rain coat?" I asked not wanting to be soaked.

He looked into the back seat. "I  dont think so, but I have a sweater you can use."

He grabbed the sweater off of the seat and handed it to me. "Put it on." He said.

"Thanks." I said zipping it up. 

He mumbled something to himself as I opened the door, pulling my hood up. I think whatever he said ended with cute but I wasnt going to ask. He got out and grabbed my hand as we ran in the building.

We sat at a booth toward the back. Soon a waitress came with menus. We looked through it and talked. The waitress came back to get our orders of burgers, fries, and Root Beer. We ate all our food and made small talk until the restaurant closed at 8 pm. 

"We are closing, you are going to have to leave now. Sorry guys." Said the waitress.

"Okay. Thank you." Niall said smiling. We got up and went back to Niall's car. 

"We need to start heading back. It's getting late." 

"I know. Which way did we come from again?"

"Um... I dont know for sure." I said as Niall pulled out of the parking spot.

"Okay lets go this way." He said turning to the right on the highway.

We drove a while, but we still didn't recognize anything.

"What time is it?" I yawned.

"I dont know. Check my phone." Niall said.

I clicked the button to turn his phone on. It said it was 10:30pm. "Shit. Its already after 10. We need to find somewhere to sleep. I need to call Kara and Daniel and tell them I wont be home tonight..."

"It'll be fine. I promise." he said.

We drove to the next city and looked for a hotel. We stopped at smaller hotel and got out. Niall went into the Check-in and paid for a room.

"They have a room for us. Number 201. We have to go in the side door to get to the stairs." He said as he walked over to me.

"Okay."

We walked to the door and into the hotel. What if the room only has one bed? What if Niall tries to sleep with me? What if...? The what ifs continued to run through my mind as we walked silently to the room. We get to the door. Number 201. Niall slides the key card through the machine and unlockes the door.

"Come on babe. Why do you look so scared?" Niall said to me as he turned the knob and opened the door a crack.

"Its just that..."

"Its just what?"

"Nevermind" I said as he opened the door a bit more.

"You sure?" 

"Yeah." I said. He steped toward me before opening the door anymore. He leaned in and kissed me. It was a gentle and sweet kiss. He pulled away and opened the door.
