Percy is breaking. Slowly, but surely, the cracks in him arre adding up and he is compromised. He wanders the camp at night, the idea of angry harpies much more pleasurable than his thoughts and dreams. He actually hardly sleeps at all anymore and he feels if the anchor for the camp breaks they're all going to drift into pandemonium. So he stays quiet.

One day, the line between the real world and dream land blur together and he is a mess. Contorted memories overwhelm him as he slowly trudges towards the smell of breakfast. He suddenly stops and jams the heels of his palms into his ears at a foolish attempt to make the thoughts stop. He drops to his knees and curls himself in on himself to try and protect himself from being hurt, but is useless because the weapons of destruction are inside his mind.

He crys as he relives his worst memories and just feelings over and over again. Muted noise can be heard in the background and he is somewhat aware of fellow campers surrounding him and calling for Chiron and Annabeth.

"Go away, just go away. Stop it, stop it." he mutters to himself, but the thoufhts become more powerful and vivid like he is there, reliving it. "GO AWAY! STOP IT! Please, please-please-please-please please, just st- go, just-" He curls tighter into a ball and pushes his hands harder into his ears. He slowly starts to rock himself back and forth in an attempt to calm down and force the bad thoughts away, but it doesn't work.

Sometime later, which seems like an eternity to the spazzing Percy, a soft hand brushes the bangs out of the scrunched up face of Percy Jackson. The thoughts of monsters makes him flinch on touch and pain shines in Annabeth's eyes.

"Percy, open your eyes. It's alright,  it's Annabeth, we're here, at Camp Half-Blood, and we are alright. Shhh," she wipes the tears off of Percy's cheeks and wraps her arms around the balled up figure of a war hero,  "What is it, please tell me Percy, no more secrets, please?"

"It hurts." he croaks out in response after a few seconds. "It hurts so much."

It hurts Annabeth to see him in so much pain and she should have noticed the signs earlier: the distance, the bags underneath the eyes, the weary and tiredness. There isn't much she can do, but to yell at the campers to go to breakfast and give him some space.

She looks down at her lover with a sad look on her face. For the rest of her life she knows she shall never forget this retched day.

The day the almighty Percy 'Seaweed Brain' Jackson broke.

So, yeah. There is going to be like seven more chapters in the future where the tile will be:
Broken: Character Name
and it will basically be that character breaking. Why? I don't know, probably because I'm a psychopath.
