Percy's Pov
I sit eating breakfast at my table with Annabeth who had snuck over when we first walked in. By now everyone had arrived and for the most part everyone sits at their table. A giant Iris Message appears in a fuzzy mist in front of us all, silencing us. When the image becomes clear my mouth opens wide with shock.
Standing in front of a monster, Nico Di Angelo resides in a barren cave. His black hair is long and messy, his eyes swirl with knowledge and a lack of fear, his face is slightly sunken and gray. He looks big in his oversized jacket and baggy shirt, just like the ten year old I first met. The monster, who stands in a shadow so he is unrecognizable, pulls out a gun from behind him. The gun seems to be filled with regular mortal bullets so there is no way for Nico to injure him with the gun if he somehow got ahold of it.
The monster chuckles as he clicks out the barrel and dumps the bullet out into his hand. All but one are thrown carelessly onto the ground as the leftover one. The remaining bullet is slid back into the the gun. He spins the barrel of ammo before placing the gun right in the middle of Nico's forehead.
"Join us." the monster growls, but Nico seems unfazed.
"I would, but we have better food then you. No thank you." he replies casually.
The monster cocks the gun and pulls the trigger, but Nico is left standing.
"Tell us about your camp." the monster snarls loudly.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to pass." Nico says politely.
The monster shoots the gun once more, but Nico is unharmed.
"Tell us or I'll kill you." the monster tries to be intimidating.
"I apologize for upsetting you, but I really can't do that." Nico's got to stop being so dam polite. That guy's trying to kill you, Nico, not ask you out for tea!
The monster slowly cocks the gun with a grin before slowly going to pull the trigger and-
Nico lays on the ground slumped against the cave wall, his eyes unfocused and hazy, blood trickles out of his head and corners of his mouth. He is scrunched up in a way that makes him look younger than ever before or maybe that's my mind projecting the hyper happy Nico onto the now dead one.
I hear Hazel, who is staying here along with the rest of Camp Jupiter, attempt to muffle her loud scream. I hear her sobs as the rest of the camp stays silent. Jason rushes by and runs out the door and I sit hear gaping.
Nico's dead, he's really dead, and I didn't save him. I didn't try and mend our friendship, I didn't try and make him stay, I didn't try to stop and get to know him, and I failed to even save him. He was a stranger who left whenever I even looked at him, we didn't talk or even acknowledge each other and I just let it happen. I went on with my life, I shrugged it off, I let it roll of my back, and I just didn't care. And now he is dead when I think people have finally learned to respect him, but he can't see it.
Nico Di Angelo is dead.
Obviously I don't know much about guns, yes yes I know where the bullets don't go into the barrel, but I forgot the name of it so, yeah. If you want to tell me what it's actually called you can pm me because I can't see your comments.
