A young woman awoke from what felt like a centuries long sleep. Sitting up, her violet eyes scanned the room trying to detect if there was a threat. Thankfully, nothing emerged from any crevices. Her eyes than returned to her body to assess if any damage had been done to it. The feel of her fingers gently tracing the scar tissue on her face broke her from the idea that this was a dream. However, something still didn't feel right.

Her skin looked paler than usual, not that she wasn't pale to begin with. Long, dark brown hair fell in cascading ripples about her shoulders and back, a complete contrast to the tight braid she wore it in before she lost consciousness. The nails on her fingers had elongated to the point where they looked like claws. How long had she been out?

Her clothes had changed, too. Instead of the darker outfit that she had been wearing for stealth purposes, she was now dressed in a white sleeping gown with long sleeves.

Especially did she not remember ever changing into that

Especially did she not remember ever changing into that. Could someone have changed her clothes while she was out? While her thoughts did laps through her brain, she noticed something at the foot of the bed. Curious, she bent over and took what appeared to be a flower.

The plant happened to be a black rose and there was a card attached to it. The message was written in a very elegant and spidery hand, but the young woman was still able to decipher it.

My sweet Abigail,

I hope you enjoy the present I left for you. When you entered the coma, I did my best to try and take care of you. You owe me nothing, it was the least I could do for you. But I must warn you that once you awaken, your life will never be the same again. If you want answers, try and find me.

Sincerely,

M.

Abigail didn't understand what was happening. One moment she was fighting a vampire, the next she awakens in a strange bed in a strange room. And who was this "M." person. She didn't know anyone who had that as a first initial. "Ow!" She exclaimed as she felt a sharp prick on her finger. A small amount of blood escaped from the injury, which been caused by the thorns from the rose. The black petals reflected the meaning of the flower: death.

As a single blood drop fell from her finger, the young woman was mesmerized by it. Inside of her, she felt a strange thirst that needed to be quenched. Unbeknownst to her at the time, her violet eyes shifted to blood red. A new sense of inquiry filled her: she knew that vampires suck blood, and even though she was bred to kill them, she still couldn't help but wonder what blood tasted like.

As if an instinct took over her, she stuck her finger in her mouth and swallowed the red liquid. Surprisingly, it was one of the best things she had ever tasted. It was sweet but also savory at the same time. As her eyes returned to their original violet, A sense of dread started to fill her. When Abigail had a taste of her own blood before, it was horrible. What could've caused this change? She could only come up with one possibility, but she knew she wasn't going to like it.
