In a dark room illuminated by a single light, a woman knelt over a little girl while she was about to fall asleep. Her dainty eyelids were slowly drooping as her mother told her a story.
"Mother, how did vampires come to be?" She asked her mother, brimming with curiosity.
"Why would you ask that, Abigail?"
"They had to have come from somewhere."
"Alright, sweetheart. A long time ago, before man vastly populated the earth, three angels rebelled against heaven because they wanted to spread chaos. However, the Archangel Micheal was able to defeat them and banished them using the power of the Sword of Angels. After the fall, these three were revived by ancient tribes and became the first vampires to ever walk the earth. With each successive generation, more of them started appearing around the world. However, there is no need for you to fear them, sweetie."
"Why's that?"
"Because it is our responsibility as hunters to protect the human race from creatures like them. Besides, if a vampire ever tries to harm you, I will see to it that they never can do so again."
The little girl clutches tightly to her blankets, trying her best to get comfy. "What about the Sword of Angels? What happened to it?"
"After the Fall, the blade was split into four pieces, which were scattered about the world. No one exactly knows where they are hidden, only that they rest under the roots of special trees. The hilt of the Sword of Angels now rests within our family's crypt: A reminder of an impossible dream."
"I want to fight them," Young Abigail said. "I want to kill every last one of them."
A slight chuckle escaped from her mother's throat. "With proper training, I believe you would make a great monster hunter someday."

Even with all of her combat training, even with all of her knowledge of magic, even though she knew several ways to subdue a vampire, Abigail could do nothing but watch. She was frozen in place, unable to stop Laito from drinking Yui's blood. That moment was one of the times when she had felt completely powerless. Though she was still invisible, her irises turned the familiar crimson color of that which she consumed.
She was thirsty and she knew it, but it was stronger now that it had been on the previous night. The light of the full moon would have reflected in her eyes if she wasn't invisible. The longer she stared at it, the more her thirst for blood grew. Her eyes then returned to the human girl sitting in that helpless position. She needed to help Yui escape before her bloodlust fully took over and she attacked.
The time to do so was now. Laito appeared to be distracted by a thought that had crossed his mind. Hastily, Abigail communicated to Yui through telepathy, trying to warn her with her last bit of consciousness. Run! Quickly, while he's distracted! The platinum blond appeared to have heard her thoughts, as she took off running through the door.
The ginger-haired male started to sniff around the area, for in that moment, he thought he caught a whiff of a second scent. However, whatever the second source was faded into thin air. Maybe his mind was playing tricks on him. Maybe the memory of HER had made him lose sight of reality. Laito would find out eventually, but until then, he would follow the sacrificial bride.
Meanwhile, Abigail was running through the woods to the Sakamaki home, having had the invisibility charm wear off. That's when she saw him. Struggling to stand was what appeared to be a hiker who had gotten separated from his group. The pale of his skin was so translucent, allowing her to easily imagine the veins and arteries that lay beneath it. The blood that flowed through all of those vessels was so inviting. Plus, the fact that the crimson liquid was pumped faster by his fear made it seem all the more delicious.
