If things, as it may be said, happen for a reason then what reason could any two people have for waking individually in odd circumstances to say the least to a complete and utter loss of memory? Then what reasons could there be for these two people to have to come together in the lobby of a hotel in a town with which neither recognize other than one of the two having woke within the confines of a particular room here?
Could the hotel room in question possibly offer answers to questions not yet conceived? What relevance could said hotel room have in any of what has already occurred? And what relevance could it have on future events? Right now, everything is unknown, everything is a wonder.
Before heading up with Bonnie to her hotel room, Henry thought it prudent to find out a thing or two. Is the room still accessible? If they cannot get into the room, then there is no point going up to it. There is an opportunity right here to find out a thing or two too. It may be possible to find out what Bonnie's real name is, for she surely must have checked in somehow. Henry approaches the reception desk and Bonnie keeps her distance.
'Hi there ... Siobhan' he says to the lady behind the desk noticing her name badge. 'Hopefully you can help me out here a little. I have some questions.'
'Certainly sir, I am here to help anyway I can' replies Siobhan.
'My friend here ...' Henry gestures towards Bonnie, 'she is having herself a spot of bother, to begin with she is not much of a people person, and she is having a little trouble with her short-term memory. She came down from room 211 earlier today. Can you tell me if she still has access to that room?'
'I can check that for you right away ...' Siobhan clicks away at a computer console. 'That room has been paid for in advance for seven nights, last night being the first.'
'So, she is free to return to it.'
'Yes, one occupant, possibly your friend here.'
'Possibly?'
'Room paid for by a Doctor Archer at one minute past six yesterday evening, though no name is given for the possible occupant of the room.'
'So, she checked in as Doctor Archer yesterday?'
'No, from the notes I have on screen here Doctor Archer is a psychologist who recommends retreats here at this hotel for his clients and he booked and paid for this room.'
'Is there any reason as to why a client's name would not be given in relation to taking up an occupancy of the room?' But is she a patient? He wonders. She must be ... what if she is a hidden lover or something along that line ... such just doesn't seem ... right.
'Other than a desire for privacy, I would guess not.'
'Hmm, how odd ... there wouldn't be any way to contact this Doctor Archer fellow? I would certainly have a few questions for him, if he is a him.'
Henry turns to see where Bonnie is. Bonnie has nervously moved over to an area of the lobby where she is well away from anyone else. Siobhan sees this and notices the apparent concern the gentleman before her has for his friend.
'I do have a number for Doctor Archer ...' says Siobhan.
'You do?' Henry says turning back towards the receptionist with an air of hope. 'That's great; there could be an opportunity to get some answers here.'
'I am not supposed to give it out ...'
'Oh Miss ... Siobhan ... I wouldn't ask if it weren't absolutely necessary. You can see for yourself how withdrawn my friend is. If this Doctor Archer can aid us in anyway ... well that would be something. He did send her here for a stay, after all.'
