Chapter 9: Mission
In under three whole seconds, Flynn became a professional rapper. He let out out a surge of foul words in response to his own stupidity.
Before anyone else made a big scene out of what had happened, Alvin jolted straight to his car down the the hill without a word. Fortunately, the security had a day off and no one replaced him for that day's shift. Rosie awakened, but her body was still too weak, and she looked as if she was nauseated. Flynn crawled slowly to her with an apologetic expression in his movements.
Rosie twitched and her brows narrowed onto each other for a moment. She opened her eyes slowly and proceeded with a curious squint. She didn't seem like she knew where she was. Everyone had their faces blocking Rosie's sight, but shading her face from the morning sun rays. Flynn moved closer, and it caught her attention. Her brows narrowed towards the middle once again and arched up, forming lines of light wrinkles on her forehead.
"I'm fine, Flynn" she forced out a giggle to erase Flynn's look of agony.
"I'm sorry Rosie. I didn't mean -" Flynn murmured in a low voice with lowered head, his face soaked with anxiety and guilt.
Abby stared at Flynn, glaring mercilessly and firmly said : "Shut up. We're bringing her to the hospital. You and Izzy stay and sort things out. Be sure to check on Nathan there, we don't want another casualty."
Rosie touched her face and accidentally brushed her bruise with her fingers. "Ow! Guys did I dislocate my skull?"
Fedora calmly and confidently explained, not sensing the sarcasm in Rosie's words. "Theoretically, if you dislocated your skull, you'd be dead or in a coma."
"I'm just joking" Rosie clarified, touching the outer part of her forehead where the bruise did not hurt. "But it seriously hurts. Will there be needles involved in the procedure to clean this thing?"
Fedora shrugged with a slight tilt of her head, not being able to provide Rosie with an exact answer. "I don't know. You'll probably be patched up."
Abby was restless. Her cheeks had a drip of sweat that fell from somewhere above her right temple, and rubbed it with the back of her hand before it slid down her neck. "We should carry her down to Alvin's" She turned to Rosie, still looking worried. "Can you walk?"
"Well, I guess. I can try."
Fedora supported her as she wobbled to make her knees straight. Rosie smiled to Fedora as a substitute for expressing her gratitude. Her steps weren't stable, and she assumed the reason of that matter to be the impact when she fell to the ground. It didn't extremely hurt, but it did and it was tolerable for her.
The sound of a well maintained engine drew closer. This was odd to them, because even if the path way was broad enough to fit a lane and a half, cars were out of boundaries, and legal students would park their cars down the hill at a designated car park. For a school located up a hill which only has one entrance from the the foot with trees that sprawled beside the pavement, the sound of cars from the roads down below would never have been able to reach this volume.
To their surprise, it was Alvin's. Simultaneously, they all wore a horrified look, as if they had saw a sinister predator right in front of them, with Fedora having the most dramatic version compared to the other two.
Alvin turned the window down and casually but hurriedly said "Hop in, we have no time." He turned his head to check his surroundings, keeping his awareness at maximum for any teachers or securities. "Rosie and Fedora can sit at the back, Abby, you'll be the co-pilot, sit in front."
