Mercy

"We will be docking in about 15 hours if everything goes as plan and we can't have any survivors." The captain says and I aim my gun at him and he laughs.

"Shoot me and you won't know your way to the dock and my men will kill your friends slowly and make you watch as you yourself die a slow death." He says and he holds his hand out.

"Hand over your weapons-all of you and get down on your knees with your hands behind your head!" He shouts and I don't take my eyes off him as I lower my gun and took the guns off my back and kicked them over to him. I then slowly got down on my knees and put my hands behind my head.

"Merc-" Michael says and I nod.

"It's alright, just do as he says, I can't afford to have anyone else killed on my watch." I say and the others look between each other before doing as I did.

"Good girl, you lead them well." The captain says with a crooked smile and I had to resist the urge to cringe as he looked me directly in my eye, but I stood my ground.

"Now I understand that you killed my men...a lot of them at that. You're smart, you should go into the forces with your sk-"

"I am never going into the force to serve for a horrible country like this...why did you do all of this stuff?" I ask and the captain chuckles as he paces in front of us.

"Well you see, the government wanted to test people's amygdala or how people process with fear and anxiety with situations that are unpredictable. You guys passed the test, but the government doesn't want anyone to know about it so we have to kill you now." The captain says and I hear staff members load their guns.

"This is crazy." Luke mutters

"It is indeed, but you'll be fine. Sure you'll get hit by at least fifty bullets, but you'll die in ten seconds-maybe fifteen." Captain says nonchalantly and I shake my head.

"So what's the game?" I ask, getting back on topic.

"Ah yes the game...this is where the fun comes in."

"You will be split up into two groups, one group will have only two people and you guys will be on separate sides of the bottom  of this ship. You will have to get to this deck and who ever gets here first wins." The Captain smiles

"Is that-"

"What's the catch?" I ask, cutting Ashanti off

"The catch? You have to survive the whole things. There are traps, staff and more waiting at every corner. No weapons, just wits and agility." The captain says and steps forwards.

"Mercy and Calum stand up and take a step forward." Captain says and we do as he says.

"Are you okay?" Calum mouths and I nod as the Captain hums.

"Luke go stand next to Mercy, Michael stand next to Calum, Ashanti go to Mercy and ." The Captain says and they do just that.

"Actually Michael and Ashanti switch." The captain smirks as they move.

"Now, Mercy you won't have your sister and Calum you won't have your best friends. Good luck to you both. Men, blindfold them." The captain says and the staff blind folded us.

"Mercy" I hear Calum

"Yeah?"

"I'll see you up top."

"See you up top...Ash" I say and I hear her voice faint, signaling they turned a different way.

"I love you!"

"I love you too!"

Ashton

"C'mon what level are we on?" I ask and Kirana looks around.

"Fourteen." She whispers and I watch the door as the nurses are still talking.

"Crap, do you see any ledges?" I ask and I hear shuffling and she huffs.

"No ledges, we have to run past them. Are you strong enough to do that?" She asks and I try to move my legs and it hurt but it was manageable.

"It's manageable, but we have no choice. Are you able to move? You have the injured leg." I ask and I hear her whimper slightly.

"It hurts really bad, my stitches might open." She says and I groan.

"We're gonna have to wrap it when we're safe, if it gets unbearable, I'll carry you on my back." I say quietly .

"Alright, let's do this." She says and I look down at the tube in my arm.

I wince as I slowly pull it out of my arm. I bit my lip to keep from making a noise and once it was out I pulled the tube from my nose and couldn't help but give a small yell but the nurses were too invested in their conversation to hear. Kirana asked if I was fine, as she had already pulled every tube out. I tell her I'm fine and we find our clothes in a bag and put them on. Kirana struggles slightly to walk and she looks at me.

"Ready?"

"You can barely wa-"

"Ash it's not or never." She says and I look up and one nurse looks our way and back at the nurse before turning her attention to us.

"Now!"
