I felt a little guilty at the fact that someone I just met bought me a mountain of food for no reason. I really don't know why he decided to help me instead of just joining in on the little fun that the others seemed to be having. I want to ask him really bad but he seems to be avoiding it every time I asked. When I'd asked him in the truck he shook his head and put music on.
I keep thinking about the song he played, it was really fitting for the moment. It was that song Africa by Toto. I hum it as I sit in my chair and sip on the strawberry milkshake he ordered me as he stands at the counter waiting for the desert he ordered. I think he said he ordered a cherry pie or something I don't remember.
He finally sits down with me and gives me a smirk. "That jacket looks good on you, I suppose maybe you can keep it" he tells me. My face brakes out into a blush and I hide it the best I can with my tail but it doesn't really work out because I can hear him chuckle. I peek at him and say "yeah I guess but I don't know if I can keep it I should give it back..". He holds his paw up as if to politely tell me to shut my mouth with out saying anything.
After a few minutes of eating I look at him and ask again, "so Rodney? Why... why did you help me out back at the school? I would have though you would have joined in and put the heel of your boot to my nose". He looks at me not saying anything for a bit of time and reaches in his pocket to pull out a comb, using it to slick back his smooth black hair. He stands up and walks to my side of the table holding his paw out again for me to take and explains, "come on Francis, I'll tell you everything". I stare for a moment but quickly pick up my milkshake and take his paw and once again he helps me into the passenger seat of his truck.
We drive a good twenty minutes into a wooded area. It's here that I start getting frightened. Thinking horrid thoughts of what if maybe he's just more respectful than the others but just as nasty and twisted, and he brought me out here to finish the job and leave my lifeless corpse in the woods. These thoughts quickly went away when in an opening I see a beautiful pond, full of lily pads and cat tails. And in the air flew dragon flies of all colors. The only light that brightened the pond were the fire flies that floated in harmony and the shine of the moon in the sky, yet oddly enough it was as bright as day.
He parked his truck so that the back was facing the pond and he hopped out and so did I. He opens the bed of the truck and climbed into it, of coarse holding his paws out to help my short self up. He pulled me into the bed with him and handed me a fork and a plate and then slid a piece of pie onto it. "Oh, thank you" I say and eat it quietly. He motions me to sit next to him, which I do with no complaints. Then he did something that I didn't think of him to do with any piece of my mind and he wrapped an arm around me, pulling me closer against him. We stare at the beauty of the pond for a bit, him smiling while watching the bright green lights of the fire flies dance in the air, while I watch with my face as red as a tomato.
I look up at him and once more I want to ask him why he helped me. All I could think of was that he wanted to think better of himself by helping me. So I tap him and ask "So Rodney? Y-you said you'd tell me why you helped me.. so why did y-" before I could say another word, he'd grabbed my chin and turned my head towards him, and locked his lips into mine..
(Okay guys, so sorry I delayed this chapter, I was going to publish it yesterday but I had so much to do with college. I hope you enjoy and decide to keep reading!)
